Supergirl was supposed to be a straightforward night at the movies, and we did have a good time, but we couldn’t stop pulling on the threads. We talk through what lands, what feels lifted too directly from the comics, and where the writing and dialogue leave Kara without enough truly memorable moments. We get into the DCU elephant in the room too: what it means when a studio calls something the “best script,” why Kryptonite keeps turning into the go-to plot device, and how tone, color, and hope shape the way a Superman or Supergirl story hits.
Then we turn the chaos into structure and build a DC live action movie tournament bracket to decide the best DC movie. It’s not just superhero films either, and the matchups force the real question: are we voting for rewatchability, nostalgia, or the actual “best made” movie. Along the way we argue about Batman being too grounded, what Brave and the Bold should feel like, and how one sequel can change how you look back on a first film.
After the bracket crown gets handed out, we jump to Critical Role and The Legend of Vox Machina, comparing campaign canon to the animated adaptation, breaking down character choices, and swapping theories about where the story goes next. If you like honest movie reviews, DCU speculation, comic book movie fatigue debates, and actual play talk, you’ll have plenty to disagree with. Subscribe, share this with a DC fan who will fight you about the bracket, and leave a review with your pick for best DC movie.

Hello all. Welcome to the Night Falls O podcast. Supergirl review edition. That's literally what we're doing. And a DC tournament bracket. Decide the best DC movie. We'll see how that fucking flies.
Welcome And What We’re Reviewing
SPEAKER_09Live action DC movie.
SPEAKER_11Live action. We're also talking critical role because that's what we do. Watch it.
SPEAKER_01Minus me.
SPEAKER_11You can catch it.
SPEAKER_01I didn't catch up on the last season.
SPEAKER_10You get to hear what we're looking forward to. Fucking up.
SPEAKER_11Alright, opinions on Superworld. I think we're similar in most aspects, I think.
SPEAKER_04I thought it was very entertaining. So much so I didn't finish my soda. I didn't eat any popcorn. I was focused.
SPEAKER_11I think it was a very I thought it was a very good stretch.
SPEAKER_09But it was definitely good. A good movie.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_09That that had flaws here and there, but again, you go to a movie to enjoy it, and I, for the most part, enjoyed it. So I don't, it's it's tough tough to say.
SPEAKER_02Something I caught was interesting.
SPEAKER_03In the car, you guys both brought up writing. Let's talk about that. For this movie.
SPEAKER_11For the writing in itself? I the movie already wrote itself. It's based.
First Reactions To Supergirl
SPEAKER_11I can tell you the synopsis for the first comic book that this is based off of, and it read word for word through the bar scene.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_11Outside of adding in Super Bowl, but it also they really margin.
SPEAKER_09It also really started to not have almost nothing, not much to do with the comic here. It was originally couple of minute tomorrow, the movie, but they scrapped that game and just all the super ball. Because people graphic novel would probably be a little bad because they really kind of went their own way.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, you're making my comic. Well no, you're not. What the fuck?
SPEAKER_10With certain things.
SPEAKER_11And you know, I don't think the I don't know if the writing uh it was was necessarily bad.
SPEAKER_09It's just I for like Superman. I felt a lot more for the writing in Superman than I did for the writing in here. I thought Superman had pretty good writing, to be honest.
SPEAKER_12To me, good writing likes is when you Superman more than Supergirl then? Is that what you're trying to say? What movie-wise? Or in like in general? Yeah, how it was written.
SPEAKER_11Probably.
SPEAKER_09I felt I had more I had some feel, but here's the problem. A lot of the feels I got from from Supergirl, I got feels for crypto. It's a dog. That's I that's not good writing. It's a dog. You know, you get what I'm saying. That's a dog. You throw all the things.
SPEAKER_12Hey man, you won't go see certain dog movies because you know they're going to die. I knew he wasn't gonna die. You knew he wasn't gonna die in this one, so that took away all the feels for you. You knew what was going to happen.
SPEAKER_13Well, they weren't gonna kill crypto. You don't know that. They could have done something different, but knew what was gonna happen.
SPEAKER_06Oh no, I don't know.
SPEAKER_13I said I enjoyed this movie more than I enjoyed Superman, but I was also the most nitpicky on Superman. Girl, you're just crazy.
SPEAKER_11It's almost like you shouldn't have split the Superman into three different plot lines.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I knew he was trying to do a lot, and there was a lot also cut from it.
SPEAKER_01Whereas this one stuck to one storyline.
SPEAKER_03There's one thing I took over that. I don't remember anything about Green Suns, do you?
SPEAKER_11That was that was new to me as well. Had not heard anything about that. The availability of kryptonite to other societies as well is like, oh hey, you you know about Kryptonians fucking Yeah, well, kryptonite is one of the most universed hair MacGuffin items ever made.
SPEAKER_03A random alien knowing what it does to a Kryptonian, though, is kind of Yeah, and uh the fact is like how does it get to Earth?
SPEAKER_01When media showers was the basic, all right, here's how I got here type thing.
SPEAKER_13Because when a planet explodes, it goes everywhere. Yeah. I did like seeing Argo City in a bubble.
SPEAKER_01And I actually had to cut myself off because they explained it when I seen the little ship flying off, I was teasing myself, saying, Oh my god, it's a brainiac. No, it's just super many.
SPEAKER_13What's going on here? I don't know what's going on with him. I'm the only one talking.
SPEAKER_11This is not right. I like the hard say. I like the movie, but I don't know. I don't know, I don't know. My biggest choose words like I don't think there's a quotable line not said by Joe, Jason Momoa.
SPEAKER_01No, they missed the biggest fucking one.
SPEAKER_11Time the main man. Jason's like, he wanted more gusto from that. He's the most relatable character in a movie for me. Because I love him.
SPEAKER_13Oh man. Okay, you couldn't quote Kara. Could you quote Lobo? Okay.
SPEAKER_11Outside of maybe I almost memorized Ruth's entire fucking name.
SPEAKER_13If they said it enough, they said it. Clan of I didn't. I I don't know.
SPEAKER_11I didn't, therefore it's not as memorable as a big thing.
SPEAKER_01I may become a swordsmith like my father. That also made me question.
SPEAKER_11Great. Now somebody will come and murder your family.
SPEAKER_04Brigands are not dead in space. Come on now. Just because we killed the main guy. Well, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_10We killed one of the main ones. You're still the main guy. Dead.
SPEAKER_13Stab a sword.
SPEAKER_11Did this movie justify being the second movie in a franchise? In a universe. Well, the first one was supposed to set up a
Writing Choices And Comic Accuracy
SPEAKER_11lot more. Your next one was a standalone movie that didn't set up anything.
SPEAKER_03Which I guess is why certain people were disappointed in no cred on credits. Like there was nothing.
SPEAKER_12What comes next? No one knows. Because they don't even know. They know they know what movie. They don't know if their company's being bought out. They don't know if the main director slash writer is gonna stay on. They don't know their future.
SPEAKER_08We have no Dr. Manhattan to write shit for them.
SPEAKER_11This is the most fucked up and handicapped movie franchise ever designed.
SPEAKER_13He has always been. Yeah, and it's unless it's Batman, it doesn't do anything for them. And it's fucking sad.
SPEAKER_12Unlike Marvel, where they can somehow make characters just appear and mean something to others, DC hasn't been able to really do that.
SPEAKER_07The only character they need on screen and have people care about is crypto.
SPEAKER_13Well, here's what was the biggest gamble Marvel took in the be f up to the first Avengers?
SPEAKER_11They took which it was Downey. He was, but he was also a lower level actor at that point.
SPEAKER_02Because of his drug issues beforehand.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So they were otherwise he was big before that.
SPEAKER_11I mean, you got your Incredible Hulk movie next.
SPEAKER_02And they replaced him.
SPEAKER_11Mainly because of him being himself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, scheduling, yeah. Scheduling and guy was the official reason.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. But he was the most notable actor they hired at that point. Evans was known, but he hadn't starred in every anything. Their most unknown was Hemsworth is Thor.
SPEAKER_13Them making that a thing in popular is probably the best thing they did aside from bringing someone. To bring there be light?
SPEAKER_11It was dark. I don't know. He's in his own brain, and I don't know why yet.
SPEAKER_10I'm thinking.
SPEAKER_11I'm observing. I'm just listening. What are you observing?
SPEAKER_02His shuffle method? His sorting method? It's somehow made us to think for every podcast episode he has in his hands. It's almost like he's trying to do a magic trick, but it never turns into one.
SPEAKER_11This is not now how you know how you now you see me.
SPEAKER_03No, that'd be a different thing for me and Dean here though.
SPEAKER_10DC'd be fine if they just learn how to make movies. Because it's hard of this group, I'm probably Woody Harrelson.
SPEAKER_13They're now you see me? Yeah. The old man? Yeah. That's a scary thought. Personality-wise, think about it. Two. Two ions too.
SPEAKER_07I'm getting more why why is it somebody out of our group? You weren't the talkative one and all of a sudden you shut up.
SPEAKER_13Somebody somebody outside of our group requested something from you. I'm pointing straight at it. Oh lobo.
SPEAKER_11You're supposed to say something on Ryan half lobo. Oh, more lobo. More lobo. More lobo or no lobo.
SPEAKER_09More more lobo or no lobo. And reasoning. Because he didn't really have a point in the movie. He was kind of just popping in and out. Popping in. Like when he was on their ship. Oh, they caught Lobo?
SPEAKER_11That's he wanted to be caught.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I knew I liked the kid. I knew I liked your kid.
SPEAKER_09I thought for the most She had quoted him. I thought the action was fine for the most part. I mean, I've seen better, but I I feel the action.
SPEAKER_11She's not an action star by any. The action was fine.
SPEAKER_12It was a less spinning camera or off-screen action.
SPEAKER_11Jeremy Hans talking about the lighting.
SPEAKER_09The lighting wasn't great. A lot of good talking points come from the shit other random people or doers I want to call them. Action was fine to me.
SPEAKER_11Like it wasn't like you know, pop bar or nothing, but it was like speak, speaking. It wasn't mind-leveling with keeper attention.
SPEAKER_09My attention, but it's not like like what's an example?
SPEAKER_11The Furious, which was pure crack coin. Holy fuck.
SPEAKER_08But again, completely different movies, though.
SPEAKER_11Example.
SPEAKER_08They need a better fight choreography.
SPEAKER_11Maybe, sure. Well, they sure didn't spend it on the writing. Spinny, spinny, spinny. First time writer.
SPEAKER_12They literally took a comic book and threw it into a screenplay. Which is technically what you want from a comic movie.
SPEAKER_11So I do have something to add about that. But you gotta there was a statement thrown around from James Gunn saying that of the movie projects they were working on, this was the best script.
SPEAKER_13Hmm. That's the concerning part because one, that was this heartens me a bit.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, the reason you made this movie right now is because it was the best script you had. And two, you ripped well, ripped a lot of it off of the comic book that existed.
SPEAKER_09You gotta find I say this.
SPEAKER_04It really wasn't their own.
SPEAKER_09No, I say this all the time. You have to balance the source material and putting new stuff in there. When I'm going to a movie, I want some surprises. I want something that's a little different. I don't want like the comic just copy-paste every little fucking thing. I'm gonna sit there and just recite the whole thing.
SPEAKER_03Technically, the only time you want that is if you get an animated movie.
SPEAKER_09I'll give you an example. I'll give you a prime example of some changes that worked. Changes to make sense to what their overall narrative or goal is. This is gonna sound funny as fuck, but take Mysterio in Far F in Far From Home. That is not his I know he was gonna go straight to Spider-Man. Because that's not Mysterio's origin at all. He's literally a stunt guy that a Spider-Man fight broke up his set, and he wants to fuck with Spider-Man because Spider-Man ruined him. That is pretty much Mysterio's fucking comic origin. They took Mysterio and tied him to Stark to make him make sense in MCU, and it was fucking great. That's what I mean. Most a lot of these villains don't go fucking rhino. I'm a fucking mob b-that's literally the fucker's origin, damn near. They do little tweaks here and there, and he gets his suit and shit. That there's not much kind of which is you know what I find what they did for put Kraven. Put more in, you know, put a little more in there. You know, for some some villains need a little more. You had to put a little oomph in there.
SPEAKER_12For some of them B listers, probably in one of the oddballs thing that I did like Craven and where it was, and the fact that I got chameleon helped.
SPEAKER_11But we're not gonna get it anymore. No, because that shit's dead. No, it's not a dead Sony over here by Hitler. They'll try it again. That's what Sony does. But Sony does. So this was your best script moving forward for and now you're working on a movie that you wasn't even in your opening slate. Supergirl was, but it was behind Ban. Yeah. So they're working on Brave and the Bold next? They're working on Man of Superman and Bold. Yeah, that's actually becoming Man of Marvel. Brave and the Bold was supposed to be the second movie.
SPEAKER_12Now it's I don't think they Or plus I don't think they can figure out what they want to do as far as Brave and the Bold. They don't know where they want to set them in the timeline.
SPEAKER_11I think they're having issues that also having another envy problem, which is something Nickel does have to deal with. DC's an idiot in that terms of shit. I can agree, I think. And I like the Batman for the most part. I like it for the most part. I'm very excited for two. Everything's the first one that's kind of I don't know if this is a hot take,
DCU Direction And Batman Debate
SPEAKER_11but I did not like Riddler at all.
SPEAKER_09That design was You love his inspiration, you hate the way they that design was just that's not you even agreed with me on that one. You did not like that Riddler much.
SPEAKER_12You know exactly what he reminded me of. And we hated the movie.
SPEAKER_09That was not but here's one thing I think everyone can agree on. And this is not I loved Nolan's Batman movies. You know, I could excluding Keaton for a while. Because they were at their own excluding Keaton for a second. No, because going off of my point will make sense in a second. The Nolan movies were were good for were very good for what they were. And I like patents and stuff. What I think Braven the Bull needs to be, I think they need to make Batman like tied to the Justice League and tied to this cosmic level threats he's gonna help with. They have made him a little too grounded. People want more comic Batman. I think you get what I'm saying. He's too they they're trying to make him too realistic every fucking movie. It's like they want a little more uh comic Batman.
SPEAKER_12They need to play him for the name of the movie itself. Have you ever watched the cartoon break of the ball? It's very wacky. It's a very wacky good, but it's very wacky. Look at Gunn's universe. He ties in the wacky with the realistic. Well, that was always one of your misses long time ago conversation.
SPEAKER_09No, no, it's one of your real one of your issues with Nolan's movies. They were too real.
SPEAKER_12You that was all unless you've changed, it's all they made it so his villains were normal, fucking normal, unrealistic.
SPEAKER_04You know, why are you here? The only ones that made sense for that were the League of Assassins. Yeah, yeah. Because they're as real as you get, they're just fucking, you know, ninjas ninjas.
SPEAKER_13There you go.
SPEAKER_08And then give us no one will ever live down. Never be forgotten.
SPEAKER_11Try and he's the reason you'll never there are ways you could do Joker, and that's the kind of way you do it where he couldn't feel more normal than chaotic and zany.
SPEAKER_09I agree. There were not I I adore the movies. I'm just trying we're trying to speak of it from the realistic and how like, for example, you know how much I loved him, you know how much I loved him. That what I loved it, but that wasn't comic bane, but I still loved it. That wasn't I'm juiced up on Venom Bane.
SPEAKER_11Batman has a couple villains where you could do this kind of unfortunately. Guess what? We got one that they rolled off in Batgirl. Firefly? Yes. Firefly would be one. Deathstroke technically could be done too. Hey, we got tease with him.
SPEAKER_09Are you talking about realistic ones that could be where who would have fit the best? I'll give you some comedy comedic examples that, like, for example, Nolan would never touch Poison Height. Never.
SPEAKER_03Never. I I have one that would be a hilarious throwaway villain for like the beginning of the villain or the the beginning of the movie.
SPEAKER_09No calendar, man. Nope. No Zaz.
SPEAKER_11He's actually nope. But those ones were.
SPEAKER_09Zaz is rumored to be in. That's who they got rumored Sebastian Stan is playing. Not Two Face. It's Zaz. He's playing Zaz, not Two Face. Do you do you uh you're both gonna laugh and you're also gonna want to punch me.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05Oh good Lord.
SPEAKER_01Whoop, man.
SPEAKER_11No, that's too silly. That's why he's the perfect throwaway. But that that wouldn't fit in Nolan's uniform. It's fucking stupid. I didn't say Nolan. I said.
SPEAKER_12I know what I'm saying. What I was talking about the word. Well, you want Nolan? You want perfect. Yeah, he still would have been perfect because he's fucking crazy. He's an asylum fucking person.
SPEAKER_11You would have tried to put him in the asylum, but you would never be able to do anything. It wouldn't have to be an asylum.
SPEAKER_03He could just be somebody Batman just knocks out on a side.
SPEAKER_11I was talking about things you could have done in Nolan that would have done better than maybe Bane or what anything else that you would have. It's like death stroke could have. That's a cool one. Now, did could I Alice, Alice, Alice. Professor Pig.
SPEAKER_09But to do it Perfect. To do wait, Hush. No, Hush is getting a little bit nuts with his surgical. But that was one you could do. But he's not surgically repairing himself all the fucking time.
SPEAKER_12Because for some odd reason the Batman movies love going back to the death of the parents. Easy tie-in right there.
SPEAKER_11Court of Owls would have been an easy one, but that wasn't as popular when Nolan was going. That's heavily rumored for part for Batman 2. Heavily.
SPEAKER_12I understand the Court of Owls coming in Batman Part 2, considering what happened in the first one.
SPEAKER_03The destruction of fucking city.
SPEAKER_11If they had done it that way, because he was reviving it. Had they ever done a fourth movie, I would have taken it. For what? Court of Owls. In Nolan's universe.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_11No, because that would have it would have worked as as the first movie would have had to have an earlier thing.
SPEAKER_03They set it up in the first one, and they kind of set it up in the third one.
SPEAKER_11He just wasn't. If they were doing the whole back and break the break.
SPEAKER_09Are you saying they should have been leaving Cordobao breadcrumbs earlier? Maybe.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. No, I'm just saying where would it have fit best in the timeline after post one? I think for it would have worked best as being two. Because it wouldn't have fit post three with him being basically a broken human being. Unless they were going to go the Dick Grayson route. Oh boy. Right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they kind of already fucked that up with who they chose to go with as Robin.
SPEAKER_11That's probably my biggest issue with Brave of the Wolder's second on-screen Robin is gonna be Damien.
SPEAKER_01That's the other thing I'm not liking.
SPEAKER_11I don't go with Damien. Lore is it makes sense the way you want to do it. It arguably gained popularity, but it's not the sake of me.
SPEAKER_03But I would have been happier if we got Dick Grayson existing already. In Bloodhaven. Nightwing, which we don't know.
SPEAKER_09And then having Jason Todd. The problem with Jason Todd, I feel, and I like to skip the third one.
SPEAKER_03I'm not gonna skip him.
SPEAKER_09I want Tim Drake and narrative wise.
SPEAKER_03Timmy Drake. Yes, I want Tim Drake to exist.
SPEAKER_04And probably not for reason you would expect for me.
SPEAKER_03He represents part of the spectrum most people want on screen.
SPEAKER_00He lied.
unknownOh goodness.
SPEAKER_00Well. And he intelligent.
SPEAKER_02And he basically does everything that man can.
SPEAKER_09The thing with Jason Todd, though, if you put Jason Todd as a robin, how many people are gonna be like, kill him already, so we can be Red Hood? He's way more popular as Red Hood.
SPEAKER_01I have no issue with that. The problem is I want the right setup. Crowbar.
SPEAKER_07We have no Joker. We have no Oh he comes.
SPEAKER_13We have Barry. Barry. Other than that, we don't have anything.
SPEAKER_03For Gunn's universe, the the prime universe, and I'm gonna start calling it because we have Elseworld.
SPEAKER_09I think he's gonna try to dabble in multiverse stuff eventually.
SPEAKER_11If he'll get that far. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He would. He has stated he would love to do the Crisis on Infinite Earth's live action, but he'll never fucking get there the way things are.
SPEAKER_09And here's the thing, I'll tell people this too. If you ever want some of them old DCEU casts back for like a nostalgia thing, like Cavill, Godot, or Aflack, that's the only way you're gonna get is if Gunn does something multiversal.
SPEAKER_12And he said, He doesn't mind finishing Snyder's universe as another universe.
SPEAKER_07Yep.
SPEAKER_12Now here's the problem, though.
SPEAKER_13Once you start up that again, what would happen to the prime universe?
SPEAKER_11Oh yeah, that could start a blood feud.
SPEAKER_09Because there's hardcore loyalists to Snyder's stuff that hate gun shit, and hardcore loyalists to gun that hate Snyder's shit no matter what, either do garbage.
SPEAKER_12Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_09That's a fact.
SPEAKER_12People who prefer the gritty over the colorful. Gun's universe represents the hope and colorful.
SPEAKER_04You know, the line said in the movie. Yeah. That he said, I know it's a bit colorful, but it means we're good.
SPEAKER_11It's one thing that comics on the Avenue Con we're almost around in Super Crawl, as long as good. Yes. Hey, look, he remembered something. Super. Yeah, but her mom said it first. She's giving her no fucking credit. Nope. I think both fucking universes have their ice equipment. I think Gunn and Schneider both have pros and cons, each of what he do.
SPEAKER_01You bring them together, you get a perfect Batman film, tell you that.
SPEAKER_11I don't know. Gun hasn't made one yet.
SPEAKER_10Gun represents the Cilius and so are Gun for Snyder can bring the pretty dark? Yes. He brings the dark to the dark night. Whereas the Gun brings the night.
SPEAKER_11It's still my favorite meme. It's dark.
SPEAKER_07Must be part of the dark. It was dark.
SPEAKER_12That's wonderful if we didn't get a single fucking movie with a light scene.
SPEAKER_11Right? Even Superman was mostly dark. Mostly gray. Which is not. Every scene that wasn't in Kansas.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Well when you think of Superman, what do you think of?
SPEAKER_13Aliens.
SPEAKER_07Okay, I'm talking color-wise.
SPEAKER_10Red, white, and blue.
SPEAKER_07Okay.
SPEAKER_12Which which is very on the bright spectrum. You're not thinking, why is this so gray and dark? What's going on?
SPEAKER_11Because everybody else is wearing black.
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Hmm. Interesting. Shut up. Interesting.
SPEAKER_04So all I'm saying is I I kind of like what Gunn is doing with this scene because it represents what a hero's supposed to be.
SPEAKER_11There's just really counterfits to the evil. And I didn't justify him being one of the heads on the table for DC. I just don't know if I want him in charge of the whole thing.
SPEAKER_14Well, I don't want him as the main writer. I do want him as an influencer.
SPEAKER_09Here's the debate, though.
SPEAKER_14Producer.
SPEAKER_09People thought Supergirl would have been better if Gun did everything. If Gun was directed at two and wrote it.
SPEAKER_11Well, straight up Gun go Gun movie.
SPEAKER_12Should have been.
SPEAKER_11You talking because they had so much alien it should have been and honestly, that's especially the one where we described like, so you're gonna give us the subtitles for all Kryptonia stuff with none of the other aliens.
SPEAKER_12I think they only did that because we technically got it in. So like okay, we gave a language first one that's subtitle for Supergirl as well.
SPEAKER_09One thing I know would have would have helped a lot. Gun always hits with his soundtracks.
SPEAKER_11I thought the Supergirl soundtrack was a little I didn't like the final song. I'm
Soundtrack VFX And Production Quibbles
SPEAKER_11like that well off that was a little off. Especially that one cover at what was it? The end? You're in the final fight? Yeah. The big fight. Yeah, that was like that different. Like I know what you're wrestling trying to say. This is not fighting the scene that you're in.
SPEAKER_09That's the com I'm wondering enough because that's been a common greater for people, is that uh sort of music and that that specific song choice. And I was like, I mean, it's not killing the scene for me, but it's not this this song, they could have picked a better song here, and Gun would have probably killed, probably would have killed that. There was some rough did you notice any green screen? There was some rough green screen in there.
SPEAKER_11That's what that was what were the lighting and lack of lighting helped them probably.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, because I'm like, oh like ugh.
SPEAKER_11Some there was some every time she was in space was green screen.
SPEAKER_02So for this instance, we can blame Claudia Sarne, I guess, the music director composer for this movie.
SPEAKER_09I heard a comparison. Right. That was kind of different to me. It was kind of different to me, but interesting. They said the director of this.
SPEAKER_14It's starting to make more sense because I guess they had, let's see, one, two, three different music supervisors before she took hold.
SPEAKER_11It's like done, just mix the soundtrack for. So you'll use the classic original soundtracks for Superman and then go to whatever this barbaric barbaric nonsense was for this. Example. Example.
SPEAKER_09From example, at the end of Superman, when they played what the name of the song was punk rockers, that shit hit. That shit when he's looking at the videos of the Kents and shit, makes him calm, that shit hit. That gun. Gun is I never take his soundtrack with me.
SPEAKER_12This movie didn't have that. No, it did not have a hit. This movie didn't have that.
SPEAKER_09It did not have a hit me. No.
SPEAKER_12Even with her, it definitely should have, considering one of the whole points in the movie was her listening to music to calm herself and not listen, you know, drown out all the noise. So it should have had a better soundtrack.
SPEAKER_09I'll give it that. One thing I did like, I did like, and they kind of, but they had to really kind of they kind of some people say they shove in your face, but they kind of had to do that. They were really try to show you how different car and clerk are, but they have to do that. You gotta kind of differentiate how different of people they are.
SPEAKER_11They grew up differently. And they yeah, different societies, different she grew up with the Kryptonians.
SPEAKER_12Clark did not, he was baby, he gone. She technically grew up on uh, and this is heavy quotation works that they did differently in this story on Krypton.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, she grew up on Argulf, yeah, a piece of Krypton. I was gonna laugh if they mentioned Candor. I'm like, man, that shit should be in a bottle. Brainiac has that shit. Mine. Speaking of, that's the villain in I can't believe it in that he's the villain in Man of Tomorrow is Brainiac.
SPEAKER_10So And they spoiled Lex in his battle suit already.
SPEAKER_11Stop with its goddamn fucking set shots.
SPEAKER_03That's you know, that's another thing I hate about the internet. They goddamn leaks.
SPEAKER_11Or they leak them on purpose, too. Yeah. That's possible.
SPEAKER_12I don't mind purposeful leaks to give people hope.
SPEAKER_11For example, Spider-Man's second trailer leaked. Yeah, that's on purpose. So get that on purpose. Leak it out. Oh, I hit the button. Oh no. People seen it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, don't hit the button. We have a bad rap with people hitting buttons.
SPEAKER_09Put an X on this on the trailer though, so they don't see everything, so they can still be excited for when you actually release it. Come on, Sony. We're not stupid. What they think you are.
SPEAKER_13Yes.
SPEAKER_11Yes, I'm still going. Let's turn him off. He's not flying. No, I want I actually want Jay to have his like couple minutes here because uh did you enjoy the villain? The villain? I'm very curious of your opinion.
Villain Talk And Kryptonite Logic
SPEAKER_03I think you were taking it wrong in the car. The villain served his purpose.
SPEAKER_09And the only reason I even said stop visit-I I didn't want to give my opinion on anything.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, but I was just curious.
SPEAKER_07I didn't fully enjoy the villain, but he did what I wanted him to do in the movie.
SPEAKER_09Like gutter fire, worse villain ever. Oh, I could pick worse villains.
SPEAKER_12He did what he needed to do.
SPEAKER_09One joke I will make whoever wrote his dialogue needs their money taken away. Besides like one line.
SPEAKER_11Bro, he's gonna talk. You know what I mean? I look up what his full look. Like they did that to kind of give him some.
SPEAKER_09He's very normal looking, the comic.
SPEAKER_12They tried to give him a fucking beard. He looked, he looks like a Viking.
SPEAKER_09They tried to give him some, and all it did is get him made fun of more because they wasn't that great. They call him Pinhead.
SPEAKER_12Is he supposed to be like this cybernetic fucking pirate?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_09Comics? Yeah, pretty much. I don't even think he had that much for power. They just gave him they gave him strength in the movie to get. But again, you gotta make him the problem with Superman and Super Girl Super Kryptonian movies. You gotta throw Kryptonite in there or something. Like you say, McGuffin, because who the fuck's gonna do anything to them besides other kryptonites or that motherfucker dark side? No one, not many. Brainiac can. You know, not many people. You gotta be like a cosmic level threat to do anything to them.
SPEAKER_12I don't see us getting in the future at all either. What? The new gods. Oh, the new gods to introduce, you know, dependent.
SPEAKER_11Snyder was going there. I don't know, gun might do something different. Because Snyder was going around somewhere different. It was pretty there. That was just oh god.
SPEAKER_09Oh god, that's one thing about Snyder. He just fumbled so bad. But again, people started to lose in. No, Snyder's shit was rushed. That was part of the process. Batman V-His daughter died. Yeah, and he got blamed for it, which was trash. Like his daughter hurt her, killed herself. Like, give the guy some break, man.
SPEAKER_12Don't compete with fucking Marvel.
SPEAKER_09Give the guy like Batman v Stu. Batman should have had his own fucking movie. Yes. Wonder Woman should have her own fucking movie. She did eventually before any of that shit. And I'm like, and I'm not one who completely hates Batman v Superman. I can have some enjoyment out of it. I can, but this is rushed. That was a bad doomsday design.
SPEAKER_11What is it with DC and trying to rush their own shit? Rush it. Do you think their guns rushing a bit? Well, it's they're proving that no matter how he's rushing. Doesn't matter how much they prove the changing creators, they're still rushing their own shit. I'm only saying that because I don't want to Matt's big gripes with the Superman was shoveling everybody in there.
SPEAKER_03What we're getting is the Super Family.
SPEAKER_11So you're you're you waited until Justice League to introduce Flash and Aquaman at the same time, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. You should horn them in into the Justice League movie with 30-second scenes of each in Batman v Superman of each of these guys, and then you were going to develop movies about them. One taking almost five years to do with Flash to justify anything. And who knows if they could have even made a movie for Cyborg. So then not only do you Gunn not learn anything from the way they treated the actor. Then Gunn apparently didn't learn anything from that, because not only were you introducing new Superman and newists, gave us Justice Gang and a bunch of other people that you're introducing all in the same movie. They're not learning anything.
SPEAKER_09Now, wasn't Justice Gangs learned anything. Was the Justice Gang fun? I love the Justice Gang, but I'm agreeing with your point that maybe it took a little bit away from Superman. It was, you know, I so I I get what you're saying. I do get what you're saying.
SPEAKER_12Those companies haven't learned Jack. I mean, but neither has the audiences. I won't lie.
SPEAKER_11Everyone Oh, I have. I'm not expecting anything. I'm just telling I'm not calling you out.
SPEAKER_07I'm talking about in general. Because we all expect more. We want it now.
SPEAKER_11It's it the audience are learning. They're not going to movies too. That's half of it. Part of the reason, too.
SPEAKER_09It's people like a lot of true fans ain't gonna care that much because I'll always care. I do necessarily mean, but people like like we talk box off numbers up, which remembers their talking points and shit. If movies not gonna do good, they're gonna change their plans or nothing's gonna happen at all. People are gonna be like, oh, this movie flopped.
SPEAKER_12I ain't gonna get no more from this anyway, so I don't care. That's the other thing. The companies rely too much on the movie's outcome outright. Especially on the first day.
SPEAKER_09You want to know the power of word of mouth and reviews. It's kind of it's actually kind of agrees with Jay's whole theme of with critics and stuff. The power of word of mouth and reviews
Box Office Word Of Mouth
SPEAKER_09in a way. Look at Superl. The reviews were not that, they were very military road. People were this reflective for people. 70%. That's very good. That's pretty damn good. Critics like 50 seven. I've seen worse. Middle of the road. People were pretty king amazing. Some of them, some of them reviews were made at middle, and I I tracked this. The rejections for how much it's gonna make opening weekend kept slightly going down. Kept slightly going down. But then you got fucking anomalies like obsession. That movie's fucking great. People are still going to see that bitch, and it's been out too much.
SPEAKER_03That's the word of mouth working very well right there.
SPEAKER_09Yep.
SPEAKER_12Because that one didn't have as much marketing. They showed the trailer, but they weren't, they didn't have a gigantic press tour. But that's the other thing about that marketing right there. They didn't show shit as to what actually went on in a movie. Are you saying somebody's trailer? So here's the whole movie. Yes, here's the whole movie. You can think about it. Often as we go to the fucking movies, how often do we go see a movie? I look and we already know what's going on.
SPEAKER_11I look for the scenes I've seen in a trailer. Like when Mobile walked in that the new Bill Lick got destroyed, that's initial. Mutiny, the new J S movie we got. Guess what? You already saw the entire movie.
SPEAKER_12Yep, yeah, yeah, yeah. They literally showed too much. I I I don't understand why that movie's called Mutiny. Mutiny.
SPEAKER_13He wasn't a part of the crew. No nasty. That's kind of true.
SPEAKER_11So well, his last movie was called Shelter. Guess what? He spent the first hour and house in the area. Shelter provide means more than just providing protection, it means housing someone. It's what they round the room on the staff movie.
SPEAKER_03Was he sheltering anyway?
SPEAKER_13He was protecting the girl. It means more than just protecting you. Oh god.
SPEAKER_11It's and DC is. That's technically true. It bothers me. Because Marvel Marvel somehow always picks themselves back up, it seems.
SPEAKER_09They have they have flutters. I can't say that yet. I know I can't say it yet, but most of their movies late because lately they've been not making as much money. They've been going down.
SPEAKER_11But here's the people can't trust Disney on their numbers.
SPEAKER_13Thunderbolts, I think, just barely broke even.
SPEAKER_10The pressure.
SPEAKER_11I like that movie quite a bit though. Fantastic Four, as we talked, I'm sorry. That was still in there. Fantastic four. Oh, I gotta call him Mama. Oh no! Oh shit my cards, Marvel cards. Oh no. She was reading them. And she called them the Connect Four. Oh my! And like I can't be mad at her for it because that is exactly where most people should have been the name of the movie.
SPEAKER_12The Connect 4. Oh my god, it's Galactus. I laughed so hard. What is that movie doing? It's connecting the Marvel universe. Oh my god, it's Galactus. At least he wasn't a cloud. I give it away.
SPEAKER_01That's the one thing I could give that movie. Oh god. Brave. What would you have done if in that movie they actually showed the tiny person?
SPEAKER_11Oh, I'd have never took that movie fucking seriously. Oh, I'm done. Look! Thunderbolt. They lost money. They lost. So needed to make 360, made 382, but that doesn't account for any of the marketing.
SPEAKER_09Exactly.
SPEAKER_11So you gotta add at least 25 to 50 for the marketing. I wanted to bring this up for because first I gotta ask for both of you do you feel there is comic book movie fatigue? Because I don't want to bad comic book movie fatigue.
SPEAKER_09Because, you know, people there's so many people are sick of don't want to go see them anymore. I have a how many a year do I get released? Quite a three
Comic Book Movie Fatigue Question
SPEAKER_09or four sometimes.
SPEAKER_07They changed that to one of the universe. Two mass. Not too a unit or lady, two heavies, one each.
SPEAKER_12I think you can get through now. Okay, if we do this one summer, one winter. So two each work. Because then you're not as fatigued, and you can plan out your movies better and lay out the actual form because what you want to do.
SPEAKER_09A few of my podcasts, other people I listened to said with and it this is gonna make sense because I only asked that simply because a lot of people have said comic book fatigues. Like that's why these movies aren't doing good. A lot of these podcasts have come have said now where's all the comic book fatigue? Look at all this ridiculous hype, brand new days getting. That's Spider-Man. That's different.
SPEAKER_11I'm pretty sure everyone but that's good. That's gonna be the movie that justifies is there? Because if that movie is gonna make a billion dollars, what where's the fatigue? Very true, very true.
SPEAKER_03There is never any fatigue for Spider-Man.
SPEAKER_02Do you see the amount of merchandise in the stores for Spider-Man? Yes.
SPEAKER_04But he outpaces every other superhero combined, for I've read.
SPEAKER_12Like I my niece just bought a skateboard and it's Spider-Man themed. She doesn't skate. She doesn't skate. She wants to learn, sure. Did it have to be Spider-Man themed? I don't know. It may have been an influence.
SPEAKER_09I'm all because of all the little news things I get, like from Instagram or whatever, they be they're even tracking. What admitted? Damn it. I know what you're talking about. I'm trying to think. Like brand new days pre-sales, because they've been selling the tickets are on sale now. It's over 40 million already in pre-sales. And it's still a month out. That's as the statistics that's a pro it's gonna be no home territory.
SPEAKER_11It's pre-sales. It's been gaining, gaining every fucking day. So I'm very is it gonna make a billion dollars? Yes. Jesus. It's gonna make a billion dollars. How far it goes after that? The first weekend will tell.
SPEAKER_09But again, there is no competition anywhere near that motherfucker. None. None. That's still surprising. Maybe out of it and Spider-Man get in here and think, oh, I have to know.
SPEAKER_10Swear to God.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_11Like Jesus.
SPEAKER_09But again, though, Sony, do you give that to not sus I said Sony? Spider-Man, do you give that to Disney? Or do you give that more to Sony? Or is that 50? You can't give Disney all the credit for those.
SPEAKER_12I give Spider-Man to Spider-Man. True.
SPEAKER_13Disney and Sony both would have nothing. As far as superheroes without Spider Man. We know they tried.
SPEAKER_09The only reason any of fucking Sony's movies made any money is people that weren't didn't feature Spider Man are like oh is Spider Man in this thing? It's connected to Spider Man, excluding Venom, because Venom is also very popular in his own right. So Venom's a loudliar.
SPEAKER_12They even got rid of the symbol on Venom's chest and it's Still did well.
SPEAKER_11Still trying to figure out how the movies get the diamond each. What?
SPEAKER_12Huh?
SPEAKER_11When I was doing the list for Marvel. Vitamin? Vitaman.
SPEAKER_12Vitaman. Brand new superhero coming to you. Vitaman.
SPEAKER_11I watch it.
SPEAKER_12He supplies every single person with the recommended vitamins they need. Oh no. And all he has to do is touch you.
SPEAKER_11As long as their flow stone vitamins.
SPEAKER_12Oh my god, you're healthy now.
SPEAKER_11As long as they're flintstone vitamins.
SPEAKER_12You no longer have a broken knee. Oh god.
SPEAKER_11They skipped Venom 3 in the database.
SPEAKER_12I swear you almost said vitamins.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I know I got my vitamin.
SPEAKER_03Vitamin 3. This summer.
SPEAKER_11B12 coming to you. Even though, you know. I'd watch it as long as it's like you're making a cartoon like Osmosis Jones. That movie's going off. Love it. Love it. Yes. Yes. Careful. He has to go against Drix. You want to talk about a fucking villain? Brax. Careful. I'm contagious. Like. That voice actor did a phenomenal job on him, too.
SPEAKER_08Oh, to go back to Supergirl, Krem did have a good line. He did.
SPEAKER_09When he was down and your eyes are pretty when you cry. I'm like. Pretty when you cry. More of that?
SPEAKER_12Your sword. Where the fuck is your sword? Oh, yeah, it's at work.
SPEAKER_09More of that? Can we get more of that? That was good. Like I said, I think he I agree with Jay to a point. I think he was serviceable. But we agree that I got I got a little sick of you're too sick of his.
SPEAKER_12Well no, his motions were actually pretty nice as far as a villain.
SPEAKER_13Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Because that was technically not for you.
SPEAKER_07Definitely not for you. That was technically his or polling moments.
SPEAKER_10Right, right.
SPEAKER_07Oh. Oh. Yeah. Well, I'll disagree. Because when he was on screen, you knew he was going to do something stupid and evil.
SPEAKER_12Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. But again, for instance, when he went after that girl and the parents showed up. Oh, yeah, you're all dead.
SPEAKER_09I just I sit there and it this is a this is not necessarily this is not an agree or a disagree, but it it fascinates me. And I love the villains. I love villains. They got they make they can make or break a movie sometimes. But I love how a lot of people they damn near go to these fucking movies for the villain.
SPEAKER_11First thing about Supergirl, that villain sucked.
SPEAKER_13Damn! You didn't go to see Super C the villain. There you go. This one right here. Straight from the movie, and you loved it.
SPEAKER_02Your eyes are beautiful when you cry. A lot of pain. A lot of suffering.
SPEAKER_05Oh, please, no tears. Just a waste of good suffering.
SPEAKER_02Oh, god damn it. Oh, we've brought hell right around.
SPEAKER_07Sorry, you did. Suffering. I'll go to the case. Why do you think of penhead? Just because you're thinking of the freaking crisp face. Correlation.
SPEAKER_11Correlation. I can't call him penhead. His pins fell off when she had butted him.
SPEAKER_07Alright, sir. No, here. Hey, that was though. These are supposed to be his quotes from the comic.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, he's just like, well, let's make it a little thing that we said it already, but one of my fucking green sun, like we said.
SPEAKER_07I'm like, hey, is that? There's a whole sun in that shit?
SPEAKER_11Oh my god. But Matt with the Matt had one of the best ones. Soup Kryptonite, the biggest McGuffin in anything. Kryptonite. I can't say McGuffin. Plot device. Yeah. It's not a MacGuffin. But you need shit unless they're fighting another Kryptonian. Yeah. You need the fucking shit.
SPEAKER_13Like the frickin'.
SPEAKER_10I'm trying to figure out a nice way to word this. Questionable.
SPEAKER_11Questionable people that tell me. I guess the green sun did show up in the Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow Comic. Green Sun. The questionable people that Batman would beat Superman.
SPEAKER_13Huh? What?
SPEAKER_11Fuck. I'm only bringing it up because of Superman in one thing. Like, my god.
SPEAKER_12Having a comic where his dick shows.
SPEAKER_10That's legendary.
SPEAKER_11It was disappointing. Lost all fucking kind of average. Fuck. And Kelly. Shout out Kelly. Best comic salesman. What am I?
SPEAKER_03You love him because he picks your covers.
SPEAKER_11He knows you too.
SPEAKER_10Oh, Dino liked this cover. It's a sexy cover.
SPEAKER_13Huh? Any final thoughts on the movie?
SPEAKER_11I liked it. I I hope DC fucking succeeds, but my god, man.
SPEAKER_09I don't I swear people don't want it to.
SPEAKER_12You know what I don't mind? I don't mind that we're establishing the super family before others. I want them to get Dat the Bat family correct.
SPEAKER_03Let's write their entire family correctly before you start off their ship. Right, right.
SPEAKER_08Let Pattison finish his series.
SPEAKER_05Yep.
SPEAKER_08Let fuck, why am I forgetting his name?
SPEAKER_10The director.
SPEAKER_11Matt Reeves? Reeves. Let Reeves finish his vision. I'm gonna be honest. The villain changed three times. Fuck what I heard. Mr.
SPEAKER_07Freeze, no. Hush, no. No, it's fun's ass. Whoa. What? I can't help if that's him or the studio big.
SPEAKER_10Just not provide much help.
SPEAKER_04No. Despite the Because WB Studios is a complete jackass when it comes to making their movies.
SPEAKER_11Now I will say. I kind of I like the fact that they're keeping them separate because I'm curious if anyone and I we probably I don't think Pattinson's Batman fits Gus. I don't think I don't see him in there, so I'm happy they're keeping it separate. See, here's where I think Applack would fit in guns a little bit more. But I think medicine could.
SPEAKER_10He's the early Batman, the gritty band, the one who hasn't learned to be the every man here, the one who has worked with others.
SPEAKER_11We're still grading him on a curve because he hasn't been Bruce yet.
SPEAKER_07When I think when I think of We got emo. We got the most famous fucking song. Something in the way. God damn it.
SPEAKER_11He's gonna play it on work at work on Monday now. No, Scream would be like, hey, who playing that? He won't be there. God damn it. So I think we intended for this to be more of the ending thing, but we've talked so much deep. Oh, box machine now still have to come up eventually. But yes, let's do our skin.
SPEAKER_12Here, here's here here's it leads right into that because we we've basically said this movie deserves more. DC deserve more. Now here's the
Final Supergirl Takeaways
SPEAKER_12DC movies and whole film. Because there's some ghosts in there and there's some pool cacas. And here's the thing. Matt did us a favor. He didn't just include the strict superhero films. Anything that
DC Live Action Movie Bracket Begins
SPEAKER_12was a DC. So he has movies outside of Jonah Hex and think of the. Oh god.
SPEAKER_11Oh god. I don't know. I don't know how many of the old movies you two have seen. I haven't seen any. It's a problem. Yep. I've seen them, but I'm gonna have to go fucking deep back into memory banks, but I don't are you sure you've seen them?
SPEAKER_03We'll find out.
SPEAKER_11If you put some of them 1940s motherfuckers on, I'm gonna be like uh the oldest one on here on the list was 1951.
SPEAKER_00God damn, Batman or Superman, one of them. Okay, no, no, it's Superman.
SPEAKER_11Superman. An old ass Superman movie.
SPEAKER_02It's the one where it gets uh elite buildings in a single bound.
SPEAKER_11Superman and the Moleman.
SPEAKER_13Yeah. Holy shit. I never saw it. He didn't fly in that movie.
SPEAKER_11So I'm gonna do it how turn it brackets are supposed to go. I'm gonna go all of round one because some how did you see it? I didn't see these.
SPEAKER_03You didn't?
SPEAKER_11No. We should I put all the movies in a randomizer and they randomized them out. Okay. So some bad movies gotta buy and didn't deserve it. I haven't had one there to see it the same way that a startup. We shouldn't have a tie. There's three books. So shouldn't have a tie. I it'd be more obstacle, really. What? It would be more obstacle because I I'm the more one I'm more likely to abstain because I haven't seen the movie. Okay, you're so ones you haven't seen, you're probably gonna okay. That makes sense then. Okay. Which is gonna be hard to call Ryan on this because I'm pretty sure he hasn't seen most of those anyway.
SPEAKER_14Right, right. We need him as the deal breaker if we all say yes to something.
SPEAKER_11So some of if it's all yes and it moves on unanimously, then it's that's done. Well, we have to choose, we have to vote on the movie.
SPEAKER_09Right, that's what I that's what I mean.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. So our first matchup is number 32, The Kitchen, 2019. Depending what, but depending what goes up against our number 33, which is 1984's Supergirl.
SPEAKER_00I told you this was cracked.
SPEAKER_11Yes, yes, yes. This is supergirl that we saw in the last with super I don't know what we're gonna talk about, but it's not a very good movie.
SPEAKER_07But all right, can I have the kitchen? Can we have the kitchen move on?
SPEAKER_11That's why I wanted to still be. It's the only one I can vote for, it's the only one watched. I didn't see the original supergirl. I did. I didn't really see the kitchen.
SPEAKER_14I don't really like it. I did not. I'm trying to I like mob movies and I kind of like a dumb mob movie. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11So we got two votes for the kitchen? I'll go kitchen.
SPEAKER_14It can move on.
SPEAKER_11Kitchen can and the god. The non- I don't know why. Well, yeah, the women are in the kitchen. What? This one's gonna be easy. Oh boy, we gotta wash. 17, the dark night. Oh boy, wash. Way in depending. Pending. Against 1982 Swamp Fang. I watched the trailer for that at work. I'm surprised I didn't get a email from our IT department.
SPEAKER_02There is a lot going on in that movie.
SPEAKER_11Uh-huh. Dark night. There's moves in the first 30 minutes. Yes. 30 seconds of the trailer. I'm pretty sure that's unanimous Dark Knight moves on. I told you it was Dark Dark Knight moves on. Dean would love the old plump thing.
SPEAKER_13I probably would have.
SPEAKER_11When Dark Knight was like, well. Alright. They ain't gonna really think until later on, but eh, depending. So you know how I told you I randomized these?
SPEAKER_13If I had gone back, I probably would have changed this matchup. Okay. So we've got 2016. Not 2016. That's the wrong one.
SPEAKER_11What happened now? So 2021's the suicide squad. Oh boy. Against 2016 Suicide Squad.
SPEAKER_032021.
SPEAKER_09I I I'm not I'm gonna chill for a second with this one because it it's the Suicide Squad. But I don't think David Ayers' Suicide Squad was that bad. I had a lot of fun with it, to be totally honest.
SPEAKER_11They should have just made Joker the villain of the movie, which would have probably made it a lot better, but people would have still been pissed because it was Leto's the Joker. But thus let's say it's I had to say I think even a suicide was that uh we'll say the movies and then what you drink. So the next 24, 2019, Shazam. First Shazam, okay. Yeah, I don't think you were approved for those powers, sir. I hope not. And 413 Red Two.
SPEAKER_03Did you did you meet a bearded man on a train and he asked you if you would like to be a hero?
SPEAKER_11I'm not allowed on trains anymore.
SPEAKER_13So red two. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_11Oh, that's another one of them kind of obscure ones that's telling which one I enjoyed more.
SPEAKER_06Pick one.
SPEAKER_11Well, I liked red one more than I like red two, but we're doing red two. Okay.
SPEAKER_09I'm gonna give a lean, I'm gonna give my food first to be Shazam because I thought this was the second one to be red.
SPEAKER_11But I like I like the first sound quite a bit. I like I'm leaning Shazam too. I liked how they did Billy. I just liked Zachary Levi's portrayal as a big kid. I thought that was really good. Yeah, now Zachary Levi. It got him Harold in the Purple Crayon, and look how watching money that movie made. That was sad. Alright.
SPEAKER_13I enjoyed that movie, by the way.
SPEAKER_10I shouldn't have, but I did.
SPEAKER_11Probably guilty of pleasure. Alright, so now we've got 1951 manual man. Oh boy. Against Superman 2. Which is the second Christopher Reeves Christopher Reeves movie.
Early Matchups And Hot Takes
SPEAKER_11I think that's I don't remember who's the villain. It's Alexis villain in one, isn't he still?
SPEAKER_14Oh Gene, oh, Dean Heck?
SPEAKER_11Yeah, so I think Superman 2 is winning that one easily.
SPEAKER_14Superman 2 is where you get the trio.
SPEAKER_09Superman 2 is one where you where a lot of people wanted to see a director's cut because that movie got cut the hell. Now when you start getting the like quest for peace and shit for them, then they're starting to get bad. Then they're starting to get bad.
SPEAKER_11The first two and then we're starting to get nitty picky.
SPEAKER_09There's fucking Superman develops a power in there where he throws the S off of his chest and captures motherfuckers.
SPEAKER_11I'm like, what the fuck is that?
SPEAKER_12I'm I'm well that's straight out of the comments.
SPEAKER_11Like, my God.
SPEAKER_10I'm gonna be the oddball here. Superman momentum.
SPEAKER_13It can be the oddball, but the other one's still moving on.
SPEAKER_11I know. The oddball. That's Jay. You can always try to convince you, like, no, I'm not not that one.
SPEAKER_12Not that one. Do you know how far deep in my memory banks I'd have to fucking think just to describe Superman in a moment? There's only one thing I could pull from that movie, and you were already like, what the hell? It's just the one Superman that didn't fly.
SPEAKER_11I'm running everywhere. Oh cardio. Next is Aquaman. Aquaman. First Aquaman. Mamoa's Aquaman.
SPEAKER_02Okay, first.
SPEAKER_11Oh. 2018's Aquaman. We definitely have Aquaman too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I'm talking about outside of Momoa.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. And then Superman 68 for Superman.
SPEAKER_09Oh, fuck. That's hard. This is why I didn't like brackets. No, no, no. I'm not saying hard is bad. That's hard because you gotta think Superman. You gotta think of that from different angles. Personally, I like my modern effects and all that shit. I probably enjoyed Aquaman more, but Superman is a bona fide classic. So it's like I'm gonna actually give the Superman there. I think the classic wins out there.
SPEAKER_10Did we go three for that one?
SPEAKER_13Yes, we did.
SPEAKER_10Yeah.
SPEAKER_13And I liked Aquaman.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_11That is Aquaman 2. I can't read my A. Wow. I had to write tiny for this bracket. So that was Aquaman 2? No, no, next is Aquaman 2. Lost Kingdom order? Oh. Aquaman 2, Lost Kingdom. Oh boy. Against That one didn't really matter because DCU was done. Speaking of one. Oh no. Speaking of ones, it didn't matter. Justice League.
SPEAKER_13Wait, are Snyder cut?
SPEAKER_11I told you we would choose when we were doing this which one we were doing.
SPEAKER_09Well, if it's Snyder cut, it's a fucking wash. It's not even close. If it's Wheaton's cut, then there's a little conversation because that movie was not good.
SPEAKER_11Is the movie tainted because they had to do two versions of it to justify it?
SPEAKER_02What do you guys choose?
SPEAKER_09Is it Wheaton? Or is it Snyder? Because if it's Snyder, you know my answer. If it's Snyder cut, it's gonna win a few and go go places. If it's Wheaton, it's probably out now because I hate I that I but Lost Kingdom wasn't great either, because that movie didn't fucking matter because it was dead already.
SPEAKER_12Which one are you as a side effect? Because you already know which way we I would lead Justice League.
SPEAKER_11I would lead Justice League. I like the Snyder cut. I may have picked Aquaman 1 over Justice. But if it's Snyder Cut. No, even so, I may I still would rewatch Aquaman more than I'd want one.
SPEAKER_09Over Snyder? Well, that is a long time.
SPEAKER_11Either Justice League, because one, I can't watch the Snyder Cut or Justice League.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_09Oh, we're gonna call it Snyder because I was like, uh either way, it's winning.
SPEAKER_11We're only on one side. Well, it's going how I not not how I. This is gonna go quick. The Marvel one's gonna take forever.
SPEAKER_10Oh, that's gonna be legendary.
SPEAKER_11ZM2! Oh boy. Versus A History of Violence 2005. I have not seen this movie. What the fuck? I know I've heard that movie.
SPEAKER_13I've heard it. I'm like, I've never seen it. Phone time.
SPEAKER_11Yes, a history of.
SPEAKER_02We need like a small little type, Jeffrey.
SPEAKER_11A history of violence, 2005.
SPEAKER_09It's literally a 1997 fucking comic. Come publisher DC Comics. That is fucking something. There probably a logo DC don't never pop.
SPEAKER_12Hey, we got Vigo in there! Dean. What? We have to add that to our watch list if we haven't seen it. What do you mean, Vigo in there? That's Vigo. Yeah, that's old. I don't remember shit. That's fucking.
SPEAKER_11I'm assuming since none of us have watched it, it's just Am 2. We probably have to, even though that movie sucked.
SPEAKER_09No, it didn't suck. At least they gave me the Wonder Woman guitar riff.
SPEAKER_07Dean randomly.
SPEAKER_11Alright. This one's probably a wash. Uh-oh. Watchmen. Ho ho ho ho. Blue Beetle. Oh, fuck you.
SPEAKER_12Jay's like, damn you. I want Ted Kord on screen now. God fucking damn it. I want this is the fun ones here. He's supposed to be getting his own TV show. He's supposed to be, but it's not happening anywhere. I enjoyed Blue Beetle. I actually really liked that movie. Yeah, but you could enjoy all the fucking comedic gold in there.
SPEAKER_11That's true. The problem is it is going up against one of my especially when you hear the next Brian. One of my favorite DC movies of all time. There's a lot of fucking in there.
SPEAKER_12Blue Beetle. Watchmen. You want to know the one reason that I was I was taken away from the watchmen.
SPEAKER_08There were too many fuck scenes. Oh yeah. And I was like, yeah.
SPEAKER_12I also didn't care for the one thing that Dean made me watch the movie for. The Director's Cut. Always watch Director's Cut. How is it called the Director's Cut? And when he gets circumcised.
SPEAKER_11Both of these movies probably would have beaten either of the ones the next part of the bracket. Superman Returns. Oh no, this is gonna get Jay going. He has a soft spot for it. And Black Adam. Holy shit. Boy. I like this one. Because I actually enjoyed Black Adam. Are you voting Black Adam? I'm letting you guys decide before I have to throw in a vote. My god.
SPEAKER_12I already said mine.
SPEAKER_11I know.
SPEAKER_09I'm waiting for him. I actually I actually he didn't punch nothing. That's my problem, barely.
SPEAKER_07Nyperman movie with no fights. At least Jay's, yes, it was. But it wasn't for the fights. It wasn't supposed to be supposed to be. It was supposed to end Reeve's generation.
SPEAKER_13Oh, you're voting Black Adam. I will vote Black Adam. Okay.
SPEAKER_09I don't have much skin. That's not that I love Black Adam. I just have fun with it. I got Dr. Fate in there, played by a great. I don't know why I went to Jeopardy Sound for that. Yeah, dude.
SPEAKER_02Put him on the spot.
SPEAKER_09Math don't know. It's Black Adam. Okay, barely.
SPEAKER_11Probably barely. It was closer than I'd like to admit.
SPEAKER_09Oh, come on. You can't you can't take Pierre Cross and as Dr. Fate. That was good cast.
SPEAKER_03I had no fucking problem with that whatsoever, and you know it.
SPEAKER_11They killed him though. I tore that one apart and it's still photo. Oh, and we got so I and we tore both of them apart. I didn't tear apart Superman one turn, so I wasn't looking.
SPEAKER_13We were in a podcast then.
SPEAKER_11Alright. We're in the second, we're on the second half. The other side. Round one.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we're in the the next uh what the fuck they get called those regions. Regions?
SPEAKER_11And then the NCAA tournament is regions. We're on the other half. Then we're into rock.
SPEAKER_12I know they have something called like the AC, the BC well they're conferences.
SPEAKER_11Conferences? But that's not what they are in the brackets.
SPEAKER_12Like they're doing it now in a World Cup. Like the USA was a part of a certain the leak the groups? Yeah.
SPEAKER_11There are no groups in this. I mean, technically there's four, but technically there's four, but that's not what they're called. Alright. You may need to pull out your phones again. Oh boy. Oh, holy quad. Stardust. Cody Rhodes? Cody Rhodes! 2007. Stardust. Fuck, dude. This is fun. That's fun. Yeah, that wasn't a bad movie.
SPEAKER_13Did you see it?
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's on Doobie. That's not a good story.
SPEAKER_11I know where Jay's vote's gonna be.
SPEAKER_01No, you have to tell me what the other one is.
SPEAKER_11No, I need Dean to confirm that he's seen it or not before I long time ago, probably. Yeah, it looks very problem.
SPEAKER_01Look how young De Niro is.
SPEAKER_11It looks familiar. Okay. Joker two.
SPEAKER_01Oh fuck.
SPEAKER_07Oh I told you. I almost gonna vote Stardust because I don't want that piece of shit moving on.
SPEAKER_12This is fucking stupid because Stardust is a better movie. Shit. Wait a minute. I don't Jay don't say this often.
SPEAKER_11It's Joke folly ado a piece of shit, Jay. You don't say this often. Oops. He's like that. No.
SPEAKER_12He's like, that's a It didn't keep my interest. That's Jay said. It didn't feel entertaining, and there was absolutely no fucking point because at the end of the movie it's a joke. He's not Joker.
SPEAKER_09He gets killed by the real Joker. Yes. Stardust. Let's fucking bring that shit.
SPEAKER_12Cody Rhodes. Stardust is moving on.
SPEAKER_11It's not Cody Rhodes, except for the guy. This one may hurt you guys, but I think I know which one you're gonna end up picking. What the fuck? You would have watched it. It's Michelle Pfeiffer.
SPEAKER_13Yeah. Uh oh. Oh that one.
SPEAKER_12Oh are you having trouble reading your own handwriting again?
SPEAKER_13Well they're small.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. I was I was looking at the next matchup. So this one is Super Roll 2026. Oh boy. Here we go. Recency bias going. Against Wonder Woman. First Wonder Woman? Oh boy, this is a conversation. This is a conversation. Damn. Wonder Woman. God damn. I gotta let this one sit. That's tough because Wonder Woman, the first one, was a good movie. That's a good movie. If it was 84, it'd be a wash for Superman. That movie sucked. I bet 84 is on there somewhere. Holy fuck. It is.
SPEAKER_01That's the last episode. God damn. That was the last episode of 12 o'clock ramen.
SPEAKER_11Even Jay's porn. That's the movie that killed 12 o'clock. It is. 84 was. I know. Did you you voted Wonder Woman? I voted Wonder Woman. Oh God. See, that's the oh god.
SPEAKER_14I'm trying not to let recent.
SPEAKER_09No, I'm trying not to either. Because I really enjoyed Supergirl, and Supergirl should probably should not deserve to be out the first round because it wasn't, it was good. I liked it, but oh God.
SPEAKER_14I'm also trying not to let 84 ruin.
SPEAKER_09No, 84, 84 is gone. That don't exist to me. That's over in fucking the Pupucaka land. God, the pro as much as it as much as it just lost some fuck. As much as it annoyed, see, this is the good ones. As much as it annoyed me for a while because it was masquerading as an old fuck, the whole movie, when Ares finally put that shit on, I'm like, here we go. Okay, he put that shit on. He put he put that shit on.
SPEAKER_11And Ares was a good villain when he was there. Oh God.
SPEAKER_09I'm sorry. I'm curious of Jay's opinion, but I gotta go Wonder Woman, Jay.
SPEAKER_12The villain and story beats up.
SPEAKER_09Would you vote or would you go Wonder Woman too? I'm curious. I gotta go Wonder Woman.
SPEAKER_12I don't like that this got paired together. Wonder Woman.
SPEAKER_11Okay. I don't think Supergirl should have gone that quick, but I like it. This is where the bracket system doesn't play out. You sometimes you get heavy hitters against heavy hitters.
SPEAKER_09I don't mind it though.
SPEAKER_12That's where the discussion comes.
SPEAKER_11It just doesn't feel like the ranking turns out well when you do it. Oh, I understand that part of it.
SPEAKER_09Part of the bracket system, definitely.
SPEAKER_12Nobody's gonna understand that reference I just made.
SPEAKER_11Nope. 1995, Batman Forever. Holy fuck. Mr. Val Kilmer. Holy fuck. Val Killer. Okay, it's not Batman. I was about to start crying. No Batman and Robin got a bike. That was that good? Yeah. I didn't know. It didn't get it. It got a bike. It was that good. We know it was good. We know it was good deep down. We know that shit was good. Against 19. Oh boy, we got the 19s. 50 looking for. Oh, okay. I'm like. Number 50. 1966, Batman 60s.
SPEAKER_08With Adam West?
SPEAKER_11Oh no. As a movie.
SPEAKER_08They have the same vibe. I know. They have the same freaking vibe. No. Why the fuck I have the Riddler? Jim Care. Two Fays?
SPEAKER_12Everything fucking Forever is missing is Penguin. Forever is not Adam. It's not as you guys can see the way the brackets.
SPEAKER_11By the way, the winner of this is fighting Wonder Woman.
SPEAKER_12I have no clue how much these two movies are so similar.
SPEAKER_09Adam West had a fucking thing on his belt for every fucking situation.
SPEAKER_12That's actually the movie that had shark repellent in it, by the way.
SPEAKER_11I'm the big copter. Up torn here because that shit, that's fucking funny. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_09They're both, you can make a point campy fun. I will never say Batman Forever is a good movie. Because Joel Schumacher came in there and just started making Batman colorful and very silly, overly silly. Okay, overly silly.
SPEAKER_11I have no problem with coming.
SPEAKER_13I'm going Batman Forever.
SPEAKER_11It's the first Batman movie I ever watched. I will go Batman Forever, too, because Valp Kilmer is a good Batman. Terrible Bruce Wayne. Good Batman. I'm just curious if Jason. It's matter what you vote, but I'm just curious what he would actually. He's torn. He don't know. I know. Say it for the record, Jack.
SPEAKER_03Forever. Oh he's like, I got forever before Adam West.
SPEAKER_11I love there are several movies in here that have buys that didn't deserve buys. I wish I could format this the way I wanted it to.
SPEAKER_12I love Adam West's stuff for what it is because it instilled so much inspiration into the next generations to want to bring more Batman shit to life.
SPEAKER_11Of the six movies that got buys on this half of the thing, I can make the case too deserved it. The other four are probably not even making it past round. Catwoman got a bye. No, I told you it didn't. Okay. Because it has a matchup.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if it's gonna make me rap my brain as much as it's the last girl and Wonder Woman and fucking Batman Forever vs.
SPEAKER_11It's the last one-one matchup. I can to go do it, jump to it if you guys want to get it out of it. Save that one.
SPEAKER_10Say that one.
SPEAKER_11Okay. Green Lantern. Oh boy. Against Man of Steel. Oh be fucked. Man of Steel?
SPEAKER_09Man of Steel. Jesus. And I don't even hate the Green Lantern. The CGI is the CGI is pathetic.
SPEAKER_02But do you realize the only thing I hated about Green Lantern was the villain? Sinestro.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_11Sinestro. He was deleted villain. Sinestro.
SPEAKER_02You know the thing that movies are supposed to do, but none have been doing.
SPEAKER_11I'm gonna say this. I have it written for the next one, because I didn't realize this happened. So 26.
SPEAKER_131992. Batman Returns by Bill Keaton.
SPEAKER_11Against Batman Begins. Well, why do I have Batman return against Batman Begins? Hell yeah. What?
SPEAKER_09But I'm gonna say to me well, uh Returns has well Michelle Pfeiffer's in there, that's the best Catwoman still to this day. But Batman Begins is to this day, I feel one of the most underrated, underappreciated origin movies ever.
SPEAKER_11And I know Jay will agree. If it was if it was just if it was the first Batman, I may go Batman. Original Batman with Over Begins. Yeah, but I think I'm going Batman Begins over Batman first. Jane raves about Batman Begins, saying that's his favorite Nolan movie a lot.
SPEAKER_09So it set it up everything beautifully.
SPEAKER_11You used to say that. I was wondering if you still had that opinion, but you set up say that.
SPEAKER_07Everything beautifully. You have the League of Shadows. You you killed off Rachel Ghoul. Very well knowing he could come back.
SPEAKER_09Do I be a smart ass? Not a smart ass. No, not a smart ass to anybody, just for comedic purpose. He he came back as a force ghost in R in Rises.
SPEAKER_11I'm never gone, Bruce. Force ghost.
SPEAKER_07He's working at Border Skates. You're damn right he is.
SPEAKER_10So what are we doing?
SPEAKER_05Batman begins.
SPEAKER_11Begins. I I I can't. That's an underappreciated movie. Very underappreciated. I'm not saying it must very underappreciated. Why hitting me in the Batman heart?
SPEAKER_13Because there's so many movies. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11How did they end up together? I don't randomizer. Hell yeah. I changed the randomizer for the Marvel one because there's so many of them. I put them all on the wheel and spun it. This was just the Lisp randomizer.
SPEAKER_14I wrote them in by hand on the app.
SPEAKER_11Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_14And I threw them in there. I was like, oh, that is.
SPEAKER_11I typed them all out at one point. That was how I got to it. But Jonah Hex. Versus. The Losers.
SPEAKER_12The Losers.
SPEAKER_11Losers is a good movie. Yeah, it was. That's nice.
SPEAKER_09Jonah Hex.
SPEAKER_12You only love Jonah Hex for what it was doing.
SPEAKER_09The only redeeming thing about Jonah Hex to me was Mega Fox was in there. It was like, hey, Mega Fox.
SPEAKER_11Even Josh Boland said it like that movie could have turned out better, but the director tried to interfere interfered way too much in the way things were going on. Hey, Mega Fox. Alright. This one sucks. Oh no. Superman 2025. Oh, corn sweat. Oh boy. Against Batman v Superman.
SPEAKER_13Superman. Sucks.
SPEAKER_09I'm not going to completely that. See, you see, you see. No, it's going to be Superman to me. But I again I think Batman v Superman is a little overhated because I have fun with it, but I hate on it. I will never over the other.
SPEAKER_11The next one's for me and you are the deciding vote. I already know his opinion. I will never.
SPEAKER_09No, Superman. Even though I thought Superman.
SPEAKER_02You're thinking of Cavill's ass again, aren't you?
SPEAKER_11No, I'm just saying I I can have fun. Batman be, you know, even though Isenberg is. I pictures Cavill's ass, but we talk about more about Captain America's. I just just that Ninja Turtle next bracket. That Ninja Turtle, Super, that Ninja Turtle, Doomsday, and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex was just not it.
SPEAKER_122019 The Joker. Here's what we talk about all the time. Eisenberg had the lines, he couldn't play the part.
SPEAKER_132019 Joker, okay. Against 2005 Constantine. Constantine.
SPEAKER_11But I know he's not voting for it. He doesn't like that Constantine. No, he doesn't. So I'm the split.
SPEAKER_09It's not the see, there's some, there's, and I have said I appreciate that Keanu Reeves' Constantine for what it is, but me being a diehard Justice League Dark fan and knowing John Constantine's comics, I'm like, eh. And I actually really enjoy Joker, but it sounds like you were having a mini orgasm when you were thinking about it.
SPEAKER_11So here's my here's my thinking. Those two are probably evenly matched on their own. I'm downgrading Joker because of what it turned into.
SPEAKER_12You will downgrade. I tried not to do that with Wonder Woman.
SPEAKER_11I know when I tried hard. But I needed to I needed something to separate them. That's the only thing I can do to separate them.
SPEAKER_12What's the sequel turned into?
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_12I can't disagree. I don't have that for Constantine.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. No. I can't, I will not disagree with the logic, but I will still think I had more enjoyment out of the first Joker, but I am totally fine if you guys want to go Constantine, totally fine. I don't care.
SPEAKER_11Two more in round one.
SPEAKER_09I won't dis because I won't disagree.
SPEAKER_11Two more in round one.
SPEAKER_14I don't think you get enjoyability out of re-watching Constantine anymore.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_14That's your problem.
SPEAKER_11No. I don't rewatch Joker's a slow burn movie. It's not like I watch the bitch all the time. 2002 Road to Perd Perdition. Really? Really? Well, that's a good fucking movie. Against No.
SPEAKER_10Who's it killing? Not who's a killing or is it getting killed?
SPEAKER_13All the meatballs in the world can't save it.
SPEAKER_10The Flash.
SPEAKER_01We gotta go Flash.
SPEAKER_11I didn't hate it. I didn't hate it. Road to Perdition is a great fucking movie. It is a great movie. Great fucking movie. Alright, now your long longest awaited matchup. No. Hate us. No. So we got. We're ready. You guys should have picked up on it because you guys already talked about it. 2004's Catwoman. No. Against Wonder Woman 84.
SPEAKER_07Oh my god. I told you it was not pretty. Watch put cat against cat. I told you it was pretty. No.
SPEAKER_09He died. No.
SPEAKER_11No, they can't win. Oh my god. Oh god. I told you. I gotta sit in a position here to It's okay. It's not making it past the next matchup. To act like I'm taking it because I'm gonna have to take a loss here.
SPEAKER_14Your back's not arched, right? Like that? A little better. Okay. I gotta.
SPEAKER_11I'm not no cute. The only thing I can hit you with is pointing. Oh my god. You take it. It's not too vibe against the next matchup. No, I can tell you I know. This is a conversation. It's the fucked up thing. Because they're both poopaka. At least Catwoman tried to do something right.
SPEAKER_07But Wonder Woman's armor came out of fucking nowhere.
SPEAKER_02We made that a point in a fucking last episode.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god.
SPEAKER_11I'm voting Catwoman. Fuck, but I'm just It's not making it out of the next match. Guaranteed. Going against your movie on a bye, and this is one of the by one movies that deserve to be on the bye. I just out of all the things. That's worse than going up against Steel. I thought I was gonna go. Save that for about five minutes. Oh no. Steele got buyed. Holy shit, Shaquille O'Neal on a bye. God damn it. He never got in his NBA career.
SPEAKER_08Why do you think I left so quickly? Oh what's our next one?
SPEAKER_09We all I got I'll even go get Halliberry in a in a tight suit with a whip. Whoop de fucky. There, I can't believe they both had hard.
SPEAKER_11They both had rope. This is true.
SPEAKER_09Now, who I think is hotter? Galgado or Haliberry that can be that can switch either. Prime, prime, storm halliberry. If you say Storm Haliberry, we got Prime Halliberry. That is Prime Halliberry. Storm Haliberry. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_11You just like her better with longer hair. Just get that, all right? Oh, you're like, just get that out. That's what we're not that short hair. All right. On to round two. Now things start to get a little short. Worse. Because as soon as she went to the short hair in the storm, you were like, I still love Storm, but I'm like, no, Storm's had short hair in the comics. And I'm like, round one winner of the kitchen versus
Upsets And Second Round Chaos
SPEAKER_11red. Kitchen versus red. Red had a pie. Yeah, well, did not. Oh my god, red one. That Jay still thinks I should watch because I'm wrong movie. Yeah, that is the wrong movie. Yeah. Red one?
SPEAKER_08Which one like that? It's kind of funny.
SPEAKER_11We have red, red two, red one. Now I'm thinking Star Wars. Blue 42.
SPEAKER_13Red. Red? Red.
SPEAKER_07Red is a good movie. People are gonna be like, how the fuck is that movie making a comic guy? It's technically a comic movie.
SPEAKER_11This one hurts my soul. Oh no. Because if you were guy you without looking at the back, you guys wouldn't know you we are putting the Dark Knight against the Suicide Squad. Ho ho ho ho! This one hurts my soul. Yes, it does. Because those are the those are some heavy hitters. Those were quarterfinal contenders. Both of them. On a good day. You gotta fucking you got see you can't just you gotta layer that.
SPEAKER_13We're in the second round. How many rounds we got? You already went over four. I heard that. Right?
SPEAKER_11No, that was all of the round ones. I did all of the outterior. Now we're moving up in the boat.
SPEAKER_12It's four rounds.
SPEAKER_11Five plus.
SPEAKER_07We're fucked.
SPEAKER_11You gotta fuck. Oh my god. It's the upsets. This is a major upset.
SPEAKER_08This is an upset.
SPEAKER_11The problem here, the problem here is This was this was somebody had a big bad regular season and didn't deserve to be.
SPEAKER_09The problem here is enjoyable with Disk Maker, or are you going with getting the problem here is enjoyability versus something that's pretty much a masterpiece. But Suicide Squad is just as enjoyable for what it is. So it's like, oh Suic Squad is more fun than Dark Knight, but Dark Knight is just so just gets you in the oh my god, bro.
SPEAKER_11Come on, Jay. We need some opinions here. I want I want to vote Suicide Squad. I really do. I really, really do. This is gun suicide squad.
SPEAKER_04It's like do you did you know the one reason I get it Margo Robbie Hurley? One reason, one reason, and it's a stupid reason, by the way. I am leaning towards Suicide Squad.
SPEAKER_13I will listen. If they're close, I'm gonna listen. Star He envisioned the Polka dot man said that was his mom.
SPEAKER_10That makes it funny though. Son of a bitch. I could have said Polka dot man and you would have agreed entirely. But no.
SPEAKER_13Something that you never would have seen coming in a DC fucking movie was done. An alien invasion of a certain fucking thing that turns into a Robin, by the way, at one point.
SPEAKER_04It gets in a jar, it fucking and turns into and a Robin.
SPEAKER_11King Shark. And then you got Sylvester Sloane as King Shark. I know what Ryan's gonna pick. He's gonna be our he's got Ryan seems like a Dark Knight guy. Which way did you go? I'm still tinkering. I'm still my brain's still tinkering. Because that's not easy. Like I said, I think my conundrum is.
SPEAKER_09Dark Knight is a overall like story and stuff like that. Is it it is a better movie. So we're folding a friend.
SPEAKER_03Suicide squad. Folding a friend to make it the final decision, right?
SPEAKER_11But Suicide Squad is just as I hope he responds. But Suicide Squad is just as enjoyable as Dark Knight. So it's like this is a close match. They're basically goal for goal, right? Do you want to move on and see what if we how long it takes him to respond?
SPEAKER_03Kinda.
SPEAKER_11Okay.
SPEAKER_12This match is still going on.
SPEAKER_11So that one's still this match is going to triple overtime.
SPEAKER_12This match is triple overtime. It's being viewed on a different channel.
SPEAKER_09I'm gonna tell you though, right now, the Suicide Scout was popular, but if we had like a shit ton of viewers, we'd be getting flamed as fuck for not saying Dark Knight right away.
SPEAKER_12Yes, we would. Yes, we would. I'm not you're stupid. Dark Knight's stupid thing ever.
SPEAKER_11I love Ledger. I love you're like, I'm you're like, I'm just saying what they're saying.
SPEAKER_04We love him because of Brookback Mountain.
SPEAKER_10Legendary What do you mean, Aang Lee, man?
SPEAKER_13So gay.
SPEAKER_11Shazam versus Steel.
SPEAKER_10Shazam? I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Steel was great for its time, it's its budget. But whenever something says steel.
SPEAKER_11It's not no Superman 2.
SPEAKER_12Shazam. You know somebody who could probably bring that shit back to life, though, is gun.
SPEAKER_11Superman 2 versus Batman 89. Superman 2 versus 89 Batman? Which is Keaton's first.
SPEAKER_09That's gotta be Keaton. 89? That's gotta be Keaton. I'm sorry, Reeve. 89, sorry, Reeve. I'm sorry. That's gotta be Keaton.
SPEAKER_11That movie's call me Joker.
SPEAKER_07That movie is basically my Spider-Man for Dean.
SPEAKER_11That's a good analogy. Batman and Robin.
SPEAKER_07Oh no. Holy rusted Metal Batman.
SPEAKER_11I forgot these foodties. Smell makes them cold like my heart. Whoever wrote that shit. It's a cliche machine. Versus every line was so good and bad at the same time. Versus Superman.
SPEAKER_10Versus Corn Sweat?
SPEAKER_11No. Reeves? Reeves? Reeves. Versus against Against Batman and Rapid. I don't know why I'm thinking. I don't know why you are but skates. That's nipples.
SPEAKER_07Justice League? Uma Thurman was poisoned ivy. She was laying on the sexy shit.
SPEAKER_09Stop defending that movie game. What are you doing? It made me the worst bane ever.
SPEAKER_11Bomb. Justice League versus Shazam 2. Oh, Justice Lee. Oh god. Shazam 2 shouldn't even that was not it.
SPEAKER_09That was not, no. The unicorns poop skittle. Oh, I forgot about the fucking unicorns.
SPEAKER_11Some of these movies I don't re-watch or rewatch very much.
SPEAKER_12Well, the problem with that one is we're missing that episode entirely.
SPEAKER_13Dark Knight rises.
SPEAKER_11Oh, you think you're doing that because you're gonna vote for it regardless?
SPEAKER_13No, he's gonna do versus Watchmen.
SPEAKER_11I didn't like the watchman. I don't want to play anymore.
SPEAKER_08This was your idea!
SPEAKER_09I know it was. I'm saying that in in a good way. I'm saying that in a good way, but I'm like This one's going to triple death over.
SPEAKER_11It's the goddamn sex scenes and one of the most legendary directors' cuts of all time. Clear number one joke. Clear vote justice. Versus over Dark Knight, right? Versus 13. You think Darkness is your ally? Well, it's definitely not his in this moment. Being born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the light. Dr. Megan's already a man.
SPEAKER_02I'll make up your mind for you.
SPEAKER_09But Talia.
SPEAKER_11Oh that shit.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that shit was not good, though.
SPEAKER_11That was not good. See, the problem with Dark Knight Rises. Masterpiece until that Talia shit comes in.
SPEAKER_08And I'm like, what is this? What is this?
SPEAKER_09Do I gotta knock it for that when watching was a fucking pretty much a beat for beat good adaptation of the comic.
SPEAKER_11I didn't see Ryan easier to talk us down for this one movie. Everything else has been pretty fucking easy. Why'd you say that? Me and King invented things the one I'm having the biggest issues with.
SPEAKER_09And the fucking the absolute masterpiece acting by Jackie Earl Haley. When he's telling Manhattan, fuck you, I'm gonna go tell everybody the truth. No, don't do I'm going to, I'm going to. And he blows because he's got to kill him. God, the acting in that is so fucking good. Oh my god, my goat Patrick Wilson. Son of a bitch. I'm not liking this shit. I'm sweating. Let me sweating, boy. It's Watchmen. We've already voted. Fine, it's Watchmen. I'll agree just because of Talia.
SPEAKER_03Because that wasn't It wasn't just because of Tali.
SPEAKER_09That made Bane a bitch. Like that.
SPEAKER_11They should have cut that part. So Lack Adam. Because that was your like, let me help you.
SPEAKER_03It was also the end of the movie.
SPEAKER_11Let me help you. Oh, the bomb blew up?
SPEAKER_04Where's Bruce?
SPEAKER_11Still alive.
SPEAKER_04He's with fucking Catwoman and have a lot of people.
SPEAKER_11No, you want I gotta say I gotta get Catwoman or is fucking Catwoman.
SPEAKER_09I gotta get this out. I gotta get this out. When Bruce when Bruce gives Alfred a toast and Bruce and Alfred sit in the way and they notice each other, that's a classic meme of mime. When you encounter another co-worker who called in on the same day as you.
SPEAKER_11Dean, if we call in on the same day, we're both already together. Mar not included. That would have me sweating. I liked it. I'm happy.
SPEAKER_09Would probably lean lean watchman in all honesty. But God, you you here's the thing, though.
SPEAKER_12Against it in the first one.
SPEAKER_09I think you realized you're like, Dean, I know you love Dark Knight Rises, but your Tom Hardy's portrayal of Bane carries a lot of that movie for you. Think about the whole movie. And it gave you the Batman break scene and his fucking monologue.
SPEAKER_11Black Adam writing.
SPEAKER_03Wait for your animated version of that. Then you'll be happier.
SPEAKER_11Black Adam versus League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, that's actually the movie. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I hate how much hate that fucking movie gets to be.
SPEAKER_11So do I. Was it perfect? No, but let it be. It deserved so much more. I'll go League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Stardust. Oh, here it's it leaving? Is it going away? Versus the Batman. The Batman? Batman. I think that's Batman comfy. I have to vote for the Batman. I didn't see Stardust.
SPEAKER_09It's not a bat. I used to see him on Monday Night Raw a long time ago. Cody Rowitz. God damn it, that fucking died name, man.
SPEAKER_11Alright. Wonder Woman versus Batman Forever.
SPEAKER_13We moved Batman Forever up? Over Batman 60s.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, Batman Forever beat Adam West. Yeah. We both That's right.
SPEAKER_11Man, if it was Adam West, I'd have let him win Wonder Woman, but fuck! You let Adam West win over original the first Wonder Woman? Really? Yes. Okay. I'm just curious. I'm gonna have to go with Wonder Woman, unfortunately, but you I know you like that movie though. I liked it. I liked the first Wonder Woman. I thought it was one of the better DC movies.
SPEAKER_07Alright. Okay, it had a soundtrack, it had action, it had an actual story.
SPEAKER_11Man of Steel. Oh boy. Mm-hmm. Versus Superman 4. Dean's not allowed to talk. Stop. The quest for peace? Out of steel, Jesus. I'm going for nuclear weapons.
SPEAKER_13That's cellophane S. Man of Steel.
SPEAKER_11Batman begins versus Superman 3. I don't even remember Superman 3, although. Me either. Is that Zod?
SPEAKER_08That might be Superman 3? I ain't seen that Z. That's with one of our favorite comedians.
SPEAKER_09I ain't seen that in forever.
SPEAKER_08Black Man Who Richard Pryor?
SPEAKER_11Richard.
SPEAKER_09Pryor?
SPEAKER_10I I was gonna say one of his movies where he was in where he was portraying a Dutch man.
SPEAKER_05That speegins. That speegins.
SPEAKER_11Again, that movie is so underrated. We may have to talk him down on the next one. What? The losers versus Birds of Prey.
SPEAKER_07Oh no.
SPEAKER_12I'm gonna let him talk just just for time-wise here. Let's talk. Don't talk too much, because I will shut you off. That birds of prey, who got a bye, by the way.
SPEAKER_11Didn't deserve it.
SPEAKER_07Should win over the losers.
SPEAKER_11Margot Robbie's betrayal of Harley Quinn is spectacular. And I'd rather have her in the other movies she's in than that.
SPEAKER_12If you have to mention anything about Henry Cavill and his charisma or Margot Robbie and her sexiness, it is not gonna be taken point.
SPEAKER_09There are a couple things I will say, I'll give it as positives. I will say losers, but yes. I gotta say this about Birds of Prey. There were things I didn't like. Cassandra Kane was stupid. I hated that. That was stupid. I didn't like that. I didn't like Huntress. That was also, I didn't like that little bullshit ass crossbow. I didn't like that.
SPEAKER_12And that was her original shit, though.
SPEAKER_09I liked Black Canary, though. I don't want no Black Canary hating that movie. I liked it. I enjoyed McGregor as Black Mask, only for the whole movie he's whatever. But when he gets out of that car with the mask on, I'm like, uh-oh.
SPEAKER_11Some aura here, son of a bitch. There's one thing you didn't like. And he was gay with Zaz. Which is not fine, whatever.
SPEAKER_09But I'm like, huh? That threw me up, throwing me off a little bit because they never said it, but even me, oh, they gay. They're gay.
SPEAKER_10That that's just you and Jess. Before he figured out you were horrible.
SPEAKER_13No, losers, losers.
SPEAKER_11I'll go losers too. Do you want to know what a guilty pleasure movie? Birds of Prey. There's mine. They're mine.
SPEAKER_02That's a movie that makes you want a pet hyena.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_11The only successful thing that came out of that movie was Iwan McGregor marrying his wife. Yep. Mary Elizabeth Weinson, who played Huntress. Yep. After that movie. That's the most successful part of that movie. And she took off, and then her getting popular for playing, was it Hera in Ahsoka? Because she had that tight suit on her. And everyone was like, oh, she kind of caked up. Do we need to call him yet? Nope. We got three more. A massacre. Oh boy. I was saying Ahsoka was a massacre. Oh. Superman 25?
unknownMr.
SPEAKER_11Corn Sweat. Against Constantine. Oh, Superman. Corn Sweat. Come on. Come on.
SPEAKER_14I feel like we're butchering his name.
SPEAKER_11Might have won Constantine?
SPEAKER_09Oh, I did. Damn. Like Matt was not that big on Superman. I gotta remember that. Are we butchering his name? Oh.
SPEAKER_11David Corn Sweat.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. So he literally is a Midwestern fucking name.
SPEAKER_08Corn Sweat. How Superman is that?
SPEAKER_04Could be better.
SPEAKER_08Are you serious? Come on, man.
SPEAKER_12Supposed to be born, you know, raised in Kansas. His last name was. I don't think he is.
SPEAKER_11David Cornstwat was born in Philadelphia. That's what I mean.
SPEAKER_12Well, that's so. I'm just saying, getting the actor with the last name Corn Sweat is just like Road to Perdition.
SPEAKER_13Uh-oh. Wait, that one? That beat the Flash.
SPEAKER_11Okay, yeah. It beats the fan. I think you're thinking of something else. I might be. I think you're thinking of a history of violence. Okay, okay. No, Road to Perdition definitely won. Okay. Because it was a better one against Return of the Swan. What did you road to the one? That one got a bye. I got you. It was good just for the random comedy alone.
SPEAKER_09Return of the Oh my god.
SPEAKER_11Road of Perdition.
SPEAKER_09Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_02That one didn't have as much nudity as the first one. That one that good.
SPEAKER_11You throw some titties in there. It's good. Alright. You ready? Just road to just calling it that way. Yeah. Yeah. Alright, then we're ready to move on from Catwoman.
SPEAKER_12I swear to God, if we make the best DC film a non-com. It'll be great.
SPEAKER_11That'd be kind of anticlimactic, but funny isn't. It's gonna have a chance because it's Catwoman versus
Final Four And Tournament Winner
SPEAKER_11V for Vendetta. Oh, stop it. V for Vendetta, underrated classic. Underrated classic. The funny part is V has to face now Road to Perdiction. Oh fuck. Uh oh. It's I'm going V. I don't know about you, but it's most likely, but we'll get to it when we have to finish off. I love V for Vendetta, man. Fucking Hugo weaving and I wonder if it's gonna even pick up his voice. Oh, it's not going to. And Natalie Portman.
SPEAKER_07Oh, Natalie Portman. Phoning someone in here to finish off the game.
SPEAKER_13Just calling it Dark Knight.
SPEAKER_02You know.
SPEAKER_13Okay. Dark Knights.
SPEAKER_02And that was Dark Knight versus Gun Suicide. Oh, Gun Suicide Squad lost. It was great.
SPEAKER_11And Dark Knight now has to face Red, which it's gonna be the Dark Knight, most likely. I pick red. Oh Jesus. What's that? I'm kidding. Wait, oh Jesus.
SPEAKER_09That woman fucking won a fucking.
SPEAKER_11Now I can I can almost start writing these in because I don't think. Shazam versus Batman 89?
SPEAKER_1389. Oh, Batman 89.
SPEAKER_10Too iconic.
SPEAKER_13Superman vs. Justice League.
SPEAKER_11Reeves Superman Justice League. Oh boy. It's it's Superman. If it's Snyder Cut, I would go fucking Justice League. I I I don't the fact that it needed the Snyder Cut.
SPEAKER_07What? You're alone.
SPEAKER_12It may be, but I thought the Snyder Cut was a good movie. Even if it was Snyder Cut, Reeves beats.
SPEAKER_11But at the same Who sends a boy wonder to do a man's job?
SPEAKER_09Jay's like that.
SPEAKER_11Oh line makes that movie for Watchmen versus League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Oh shit. It hurt. But it's guess guess what? Watch Red.
unknownWatch Red.
SPEAKER_11League. Watch Red. League. Watch red. League. Watch Red.
SPEAKER_13League. League. Come on, I'm Sean all the way. God. You can't. That director's cut is.
SPEAKER_11Silk Man was still here. That's so legendary. Silk Spectre, great, even though she fucking took like three dicks that whole movie. Why is that movie so I I should not be the tiebreaker on this. I really shouldn't.
SPEAKER_07Because I put this man in your head. He deserves it.
SPEAKER_11Whenever Watchman has said, I'm all I'm thinking about is that glorious big blue dick. So it's thanks for that. What?
SPEAKER_13What? What'd I do? What the hell? Some ass lapping on there? Clapping cheeks on there. What the fuck?
SPEAKER_14Apparently it was a YouTube video of a kid playing with toys.
SPEAKER_11Okay, that's okay.
SPEAKER_14Doesn't make it much better, actually, for sound wise.
SPEAKER_11League moves on.
unknownJesus.
SPEAKER_11The Batman versus Wonder Woman. The Batman. I wouldn't say the Batman.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_11I'll still match.
SPEAKER_12The only thing that would defer my choice is if Dean can talk me down, villains.
SPEAKER_11Gotta ask Ryan. Like, Ryan, come on. You got you have to defend Watchman with me. I can't believe Watchman is so like. Oh, I I I don't know. He he likes Sean Connery. I don't know if you're gonna get that one. Why is Watchman so like dis? I can't why Watchman is like. It made it to the quarterfinals! It seems so disliked. You know who directed that shit? Zach Snyder. Man of Steel versus Batman begins.
SPEAKER_13Batman begins. Anything exciting before I as far as origin movies go?
SPEAKER_10Batman begins. But it is Henry Cavill's portrayal of Superman.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. Aura farming merchant. Oh, the different tone of Superman to Darkness.
SPEAKER_11Aura Farm Merchant on both hands. Does it come in black?
SPEAKER_13Yours came later. On both hands.
SPEAKER_11Buy things that can't be bought.
SPEAKER_10What is your what are you what's your opinion, Matt?
SPEAKER_11I can be swayed. Doesn't matter. I'm agreeing with Jay, so it moves on regardless. Oh boy. I was giving you a chance.
SPEAKER_08He doesn't want to play this game anymore.
SPEAKER_11Nope. Well, all my goats are going! So Man of Steel is the most underrated comic show of all time. I say stand on that mountain. And it's going. Are you thinking of your father when you do? It's in the point where something has to lose. I know, I know. The only one you can really be upset about is Watchmen. That's the that one was close.
SPEAKER_03I am not sorry about that one.
unknownI love that fucking movie, man.
SPEAKER_13The Losers versus Superman 25. And I'm voting losers.
SPEAKER_09See, I won't do it. I won't do it. I will go Superman. I like Superman more. Part of me, because I could have gone losers and said, oh, you're gonna kick my Watchmen out, but no, I'm not gonna do that. Jay's like, I get it.
SPEAKER_11Jay the tiebreaker. He doesn't like Watchmen just because there's fucking in it. Man, that's not the only reason I don't like Watchmen.
SPEAKER_09I like some good fucking scenes.
SPEAKER_11Give this movie some some some bizarre, some heat. There was a bit much, yes, but it was the director's cut. It shocks a lot.
SPEAKER_02It wasn't just the director's regular movie had that many.
SPEAKER_09It shocks a lot of people. You're looking at a dick the whole time Dr. Manhattan's speaking. And as much as you want to ignore it, you can't.
SPEAKER_03Superman.
SPEAKER_11Oh my god. I voted against it every time except for the first one.
SPEAKER_10Every time. Superman, yeah.
SPEAKER_11Road to Perdition versus V for Vendetta.
SPEAKER_09You would have heard our vote earlier. I gotta go Varma. I love that one. We're going for the mask. Remember, remember.
SPEAKER_11We're in our top eight. Remember, remember the Dark Knight versus Batman 89.
SPEAKER_1089. Dean can't fake Joker over Joker. No, for me. Oh god.
SPEAKER_04I know which Joker he prefers. He's not a Nicholas guy.
SPEAKER_10I love Jack.
SPEAKER_09He's one of my favorite actors, but I love it.
SPEAKER_11I love his portrayal of Joker, but it's That was the most Joker-ish of all the Jokers.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, but it was the problem is they named him.
SPEAKER_12It's the origin.
SPEAKER_09It depends what iteration you're talking about. Because again, it was the very 60s comic slapstick Joker Nicholson was playing. Ledger played a more gritty and death of the family, I'm a cut your face off, Joker. The dark, twisted motherfucker that I love.
SPEAKER_10Ay, ay, ay. The psycho, the gangster. Nicholson was kind of the gangster. We've yet to get the clown. The clown. Maybe. Yeah, not yeah. On the big screen.
SPEAKER_11Caesar Romero was kind of the clown.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I guess.
SPEAKER_11I guess we got the four Batmans, two Supermans, and two standalones. Make up the final eight.
SPEAKER_09That's not right. I will vote Dark Knight, but I don't really care because it's it's classic. I know 89 is classic.
SPEAKER_11What's the breaker? Batman 89. Okay.
SPEAKER_09Jay, you know you, Jay, you know people watching this, these stupid motherfuckers. Dark Knight, because there's got some. There is Dark Knight stands out there, boy.
SPEAKER_11Superman versus League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. And if Watchman in advance, it's not beating Superman. I don't think Watchman beats Superman. Even me, you can maybe maybe convince me of that. Like, because what what two are we fucking doing right now? Superman versus League. My Bolt. My Bolt would be Super G.
SPEAKER_14We're doing Reeves versus League.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Reeves versus League. Reeves to me.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_11We've given League all it can do. It's Reeves. That I can't deny the classic.
SPEAKER_02The problem is what Reeves did to boost everything. So yes.
SPEAKER_09Reeves paved the way.
SPEAKER_02I wanted more out of the league, but I didn't get anything.
SPEAKER_11The Batman versus Batman begins.
SPEAKER_13Hell yeah. Begins. Begins and the Batman. That's just personal villain will take that for me before begins.
SPEAKER_09Because Liam is Rachel Ghoul was great, and I actually liked Killen Murphy of ScarePro too.
SPEAKER_11Superman 25 against V for Vendetta. V. This is sad. This is sad. Natalie Portman's in that. Me. V. V's moving on. Oh fine.
SPEAKER_10Fine. That's at least you know, you can that's that's had comics.
SPEAKER_13All of these have had comics. This sucks.
SPEAKER_01What do we do to ourselves?
SPEAKER_11Batman 89 against Reeve Superman. Okay, that's just too fucking ridiculous.
SPEAKER_09That both the that I I I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at it, but I swear to god.
SPEAKER_05This is a final This is the semifinal.
SPEAKER_11Fuck you! We would get fucking I'm just a bait how oh my oh god.
SPEAKER_13They're both just they both have just a classic thing to them.
SPEAKER_12I'm I'm I'm going favoritism because I would not have watched Reeves without having watched 89.
SPEAKER_10I'll go 89 Batman.
SPEAKER_04Everyone the same on that?
SPEAKER_10Yeah, I'm 89 Batman.
SPEAKER_04You would not have delved out unless you have watched 89.
SPEAKER_11I mean Reeves Superman came out in 78 versus the 89 Batman.
SPEAKER_02So I was born in 90s so it's great. Doesn't help when you're an impressionable kid when you watch things. It wasn't exactly your choice on when you got to see them.
SPEAKER_11And then Batman begins versus V for Vinda.
SPEAKER_13That one kind of hurts a little time.
SPEAKER_11Whoever wins goes against Batman 89.
SPEAKER_10Oh God. That actually is very tough. Because I do like old for very different reasons. That is just a all-around great movie. But so is Batman Begins. Oh God.
SPEAKER_00Algo begins. Slight. Slight.
SPEAKER_11Vote has been cast today. Do I need to be a tiebreaker or do I the origin I guy?
SPEAKER_10This is V and Batman begins.
SPEAKER_11For the right to battle Keaton Batman.
SPEAKER_00V.
SPEAKER_11So I gotta tie it. V break it. I'm gonna go Vendetta.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I was not happy about that.
SPEAKER_11Nope. So V for Vendetta versus Batman 89.
SPEAKER_13Well in that regard, I will go V for Vendetta.
SPEAKER_10That's the final That is the final pure enjoyment factor, I would slight I would go.
SPEAKER_13I would. I would.
SPEAKER_08My childhood becomes more mature and understanding things and what it means.
SPEAKER_00Remember, remember.
SPEAKER_08Remember, remember.
SPEAKER_00The 10th of November.
SPEAKER_11This would have been hilarious if we were actually fucking at the 10th of November saying this shit. I there's no way I would have foreshadowed this one winning. It was one of the contenders I knew.
SPEAKER_03You know what's the sad part?
SPEAKER_11Is the internet would actually agree with us? Oh, he responded. Oh my.
SPEAKER_10Should we find out if we went the right way? Or do we have to redo it?
SPEAKER_11Oh god.
SPEAKER_10Nope. Dark Knight meeting five. Okay.
SPEAKER_11What? Show him the end? He's gonna look at someone always be like.
SPEAKER_02So, V for Vendetta won.
SPEAKER_09I can't it isn't a superhero movie. It won a tournament, but I can't necessarily say I think it's the greatest DC movie ever, but that's the thing with tournaments.
SPEAKER_12So it's currently released? This is just based on us voting. If we were to put this out on the internet right now, how do you think this would go?
SPEAKER_09Out of all the movies that were in there, who would who would win? Greatest DC movie? I will tell you right now, I would bet it would be Dark Knight. I would bet you would be Dark Knight.
SPEAKER_11Man of Steel might be in there because it has a rabid fan base.
SPEAKER_09Uh-huh. So now this is something that's killing the current DC movies.
SPEAKER_10No, we don't want to.
SPEAKER_13Don't go watch those movies.
SPEAKER_10Don't watch it, they suck.
SPEAKER_07I'm not tired Cavill for this. What? No, no. What?
SPEAKER_11Cavill, they they they he walked away like a gentleman. Like the legend that he is.
SPEAKER_10God, I glaze that man so much. I'm curious what Ryan's gonna be mad.
SPEAKER_11What? I told him the final four and I wanted to see what he said. He'll be like, excuse me? That's the final what? I mean, he doesn't know how the brackets grow down.
SPEAKER_09Well, there were some in there that were top five contenders that just went against each other and knocked the other ones out. That is, I agree with Matt. That is one of the issues with like a bracket system, but a good one won at least. At least a good one won. I'd be mad. No, there was no way a bullshit one went. Something that's acceptable one. Catwoman won the entire thing. I'd never do another podcast again. I'd probably go cry. I'd go home to cry. Because I don't know how.
SPEAKER_11I don't know how I was outvoted on Catwoman ten times. Like, how? Did we watch how do you think I would have filmed if Superman won? Like, did we watch a different movie?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we did. So watch different movies.
SPEAKER_11Like, Jesus. So other than you're gonna get a chuckle out of Jay here. We just wrapped on the newest season of The Legend of Bucks mucking. You and he a what? Oh shit.
Vox Machina Season Finale Reactions
SPEAKER_11I love that show so much in my fucking ass. I'm gonna go watch Greater. I'll go watch Reacher. You will never live that down.
SPEAKER_02At least we didn't have to tape his eyes open like we thought.
SPEAKER_09Well, I'm always We did. We forced him to watch in the fall. Always gonna remember. It was put on, then we're trying to go to sleep.
SPEAKER_11And it apparently broke the universe because it started the beep. The most beep beep. Now if it was that quick, we'd have been calling sooner. Like, hello.
SPEAKER_09I'm always gonna remember it when it was a problem, when it became an all-out issue and it had to be fixed. I was laying down, I actually had my eyes, but I was starting to nod off. It beeped again, my eyes opened. I like locked eyes with Matt, and he had the most look on his face ever.
SPEAKER_11Then we got moved to a room where Matt was trying to sleep out of fucking chair. Oh, good time. Okay, so Vox Rock in the season ends kind of like, whoa. What the fuck, man? Our heroes lost. They're fucked. And one got fucking.
SPEAKER_13What happened? We got fingered to death. Power will kill. Well not.
SPEAKER_10Because when when Vecna shows up, when he dies, that was part of his plan.
SPEAKER_09Then he ascended to Godhood.
SPEAKER_11He gives he was gonna probably spare them all, but he said, kneel. You gotta kneel, I'll spare you. Then he put it on fucking broadcast so everyone can see.
SPEAKER_09Fucking everyone was like, so mad, even grog. I'm like, grog, no, no, grog, don't do that.
SPEAKER_11No, stand on business.
SPEAKER_09There was only one that stood on business.
SPEAKER_11I don't I forgot Vaxledon Bazaar.
SPEAKER_09I'm mad at what he what forget his exact word.
SPEAKER_10It was like get fucked or something.
SPEAKER_11Yep, get fucked.
SPEAKER_13Get fucked. Ooh. What happened? He picked begins over Vendetta.
SPEAKER_10And Vendetta won for all of us.
SPEAKER_11That's a good movie.
SPEAKER_10That's a good movie.
SPEAKER_11So Box Machina's last the season five will be its last season.
SPEAKER_13They will complete everything. Is that all you guys are gonna say about it?
SPEAKER_11No, he's texting, but he said he was gonna try to have the conversation. There were some different there were some there were a lot of differences. There's always differences because they gotta adapt it from a D game to a show.
SPEAKER_02I I know one of the episodes was called Guard's Laminate. How did that go?
SPEAKER_11It was that was the only episode Scanlon was in. He did not come back, yeah. He will because after seeing Vax die. Yeah, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_11And also he's gotta become a champion. Yeah. So Terrion was already part of Voxmachin at this point. He was not he because Bard's Lament happened before the year break.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_11So Terrian comes in. Terrian Darrington. Before. That's good. Excuse me. That's a good character. I love Terry and Darrington. Pike and Grog went to Vasselheim. Yeah. And had their thing before going back to. They didn't have the whole argument between them about being left out or forgotten. That didn't really happen. Yeah. Keelitz Aramente was pretty close to accurate outside of the whole party being there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_11In the campaign. Yeah. Vex did not fight the monster she fought. She fought something else. Because Gloomstalker is an actual critical role creation, honestly.
SPEAKER_13Yeah.
SPEAKER_11The Unalive 5 is not canon. But very catchy. No one attacks the Tempest Coronation. We got Keila's dad does not become blind.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Is that supposed to be a big thing?
SPEAKER_11It's a big thing for future uses, but not a big thing for current. Their thing, the the things, their eyes. They have a thing, the eyes. They like to gouge the motherfuckers out. That sounds familiar. Tarion's dad was a little bit less corrupt, but more underworld focused. Yeah, yeah. That got played up a little bit. There's a unicorn. They did bring in the unicorn. They had the deck, they had their impersonation of the deck of many things. The deck of many things. It was the deck they turned the deck of many things into the deck of infinite possibilities. Because I can't because the deck of many things is copyrighted. So the heist episode of them going into the cobalt soul. Hey! That was a good episode. Where we got smart grog and strong pike.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_11That was very much a thing that happened, some of which happened in that aspect of things. But they were not trying to steal from the cobalt soul. They were making a delivery for the cobalt soul.
SPEAKER_08And that happened.
SPEAKER_11They were delivering the horn of Orcas.
SPEAKER_12I like that how they're gonna connect things.
SPEAKER_11No, this was that was just a standalone episode because they needed information and they needed a way to justify it with keeping campaign contents into something else. There was a big connection to campaign three in That's coming up. That's coming up. They did visit Western in this episode when they went Pike and Grogwind to go visit Wilhand. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You're kind of making me think they meet fresh cut grass or something.
SPEAKER_11No, they meet someone, but they meet Laudna.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_11Which honestly, in terms of canon, makes sense where Laudna would be before she runs away and eventually joins campaign three. But it never happened. Yeah. Because the first time Bex ever meets walking Laudna is in campaign three. But when they visit Western, Wilhelm does die, but not at that point. He dies after the campaign's over. So sorry, Henry Winkler. Henry Winkler, what's what is Wilhelm?
SPEAKER_13Grampa Pike. Yep. Okay.
SPEAKER_11There was no finding of Delilah's lab. That was a complete add-on.
SPEAKER_04Hello there, Delilah.
SPEAKER_11Every time. They didn't encounter. In fact, they didn't encounter Delilah again until they find the second orb. Yeah. They really played into Vax's blight more in the anime cartoon than they did. Because it literally wasn't a thing in the campaign. No. No, it's a curse from it's an an just a thing that gave him from being resurrected. Right. As the champion.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_11Because he'd already died at that point in it. Yep. A couple times. We both come back. He won't come back. How many times will you die? The only person that hasn't died technically in the anime is Keelith. And she had the dumbest death out of all of them in the campaign. So thank you, Goldfish.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's because oh god, how funny would it be if they actually did that as her real death in the they can't because they've already passed they've already passed the point.
SPEAKER_09I was kind of hyped for it and I didn't really get it, but it also wasn't that clear. When Grog got sucked in through the vortex, it's it's like Whispered One healed him in the campaign, he just tanked that shit. So I was kind of I was a little confused there.
SPEAKER_11So since the blight wasn't became more of a thing, there wasn't the whole Keeleth trying to cure him thing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Scanlon was actually more of a crime lord in the campaign after being away for a year than what he was in the anime versus just being a is isn't his whole thing now a redemption arc with his daughter instead?
SPEAKER_11That's where he's he went and teamed up with his daughter, but why'd he turn into a crime lord in the campaign? Because while he was trying to reconcile with his daughter, they ran into and Market a bunch of his enemies? No, they ran into people, they were people fucking with them, and Scanlin and his daughter just kicked their asses and took their business. Not knowing that it was done at this show. They kind of did, but he's still more, but he's doing more traveling roadshow. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_11Which is a little bit disappointing. But and he's also the one that told him that there was a second ore because he, while doing the criminal or world stuff, he found out there was something going on and told Vox Makina, why don't you go do this? The meat man, them the meat man tells you. That was his crime learning, the meat man. Yeah, Dean probably loved that. The meat man. I was actually disappointed in the parts lament. Yeah. In the anime. Wasn't that enamored by it. It it's not as important. It probably didn't have the impact that because it happened happening after his death was more impactful than doing it. Oh, I'm just mad at you guys because I haven't talked to you guys in for a year. Yeah, I'm mad. But they use the same gripes, and it's still like Right, right.
SPEAKER_13It doesn't hit as well, but it makes sense.
SPEAKER_11Grog didn't so in the campaign, Grog didn't get sucked into the portal. Okay. They all chose to go to get all chose to go together into the portal to see what was going on.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_11What?
SPEAKER_02Did did I open this or did you?
SPEAKER_11I didn't. I I tore off the tab, I didn't.
SPEAKER_02That's what I was questioning is when the fuck did I do that?
SPEAKER_10Well, you were looking on your phone.
SPEAKER_11So if you don't have a symbol of Vecna, if you go through the orb, you take somewhere around 200 points of damage, which kills most people. They only had enough for the group, and not grog, so grog didn't win, goes into the portal without the amulet and just tanks the damage and gets healed on the other end. In the anime, he dies. And Vecna slash Gideon revives him. In a way to manipulate Pike. Yes. Which does not happen in the campaign, obviously. I was mad at Pike. I'm like, what are you doing, Pike? Set being stupid. What are you doing? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's not the first time.
SPEAKER_11Man, and one of my favorite moments of the whole season was when Grog woke up and he's like, Pikey. Great. Yeah, Pike, you're listening to the future God of Whispers and Deception. Where did this end? Well. And Grog said that shit in the most simpleton grog way, but it still hit. And it still sounded smarter than he probably should have. Yes. We got the bad guys. We get the and he's a bad guy.
SPEAKER_10We kill the bad guys.
SPEAKER_11Oh shit. Yeah. In the campaign, there's obviously no scheming with Vecna or manipulation by Vecna. It just happened because Delilah finally activated the ritual. She doesn't fight her former comrades. Yeah. Vex is killed by Vecna. But obviously not submitted via live broadcast by any means, because I think he was killed still in Thorumpala. Yeah. Andy Circus has been great. As an add-on, but what's probably coming next since we're probably since they already since re-watching it over the last two days, they teased the four champions of the gods that sealed Vecna. Yeah. Those so the gods are Saren Ray, which is Pike's God, so there's Pike's Redemption Arc. Yeah. Paylor, which is Vex's god is the Great Mistress. Yeah. Matron of Ravens, so when Vex Vax gets revived. Yeah. And then the Knowing Mistress, which will end up being Scanlin, and I'm willing to bet it has something to do with Cowrie and Osisa that he gets chosen for it. Since Cowrie probably marked him or vouched for him, the Sphinx. Vouching for Scanlon. I have a feeling that's going to play into because they're servants of the knowing mistress. I have a feeling that's how Scanlon's going to get it. Yep. So we're going to have a whole god tour of getting power-ups to fight Vecna. And I'm willing to bet they dedicate probably the final episode to post Vecna.
SPEAKER_14Post Vecna where they all go their own way?
SPEAKER_11Or just to tie up all the loose ends before because Vax has to go away again after that. Yep. Now does he die or does he just go off and become the their I know your champion forever? He's just he cannot serve on the mortal plane.
SPEAKER_09That's what yeah.
SPEAKER_11That's basically yeah. He doesn't have a life force. He's being granted power and vitality through the power of the matron.
SPEAKER_14So he's basically just an entity at this point.
SPEAKER_11He's an entity of servitude to the matron.
SPEAKER_09Leave it to Liam O'Brien, the fucking Bro, what the fuck? I've always gara.
SPEAKER_11And his depth happened pretty much the same way it happened in the campaign. Like he literally got dusted.
SPEAKER_09Get fucked.
SPEAKER_11He literally gets dusted, meaning there's no body to resurrect for them.
SPEAKER_09He got snapped. And Marvel first.
SPEAKER_11The only way to revive him is a complete full true resurrection spell, which is level 9 and costs a million gold. A million gold. Why the heck is gold? Have gold. Here, God, have gold.
SPEAKER_02I need this like.
SPEAKER_11It uses it as part of the ritual, so it doesn't even go to the god. Have gold. Or what ends up happening, the matron says, you can go back. But when your job's done, you're done. That probably would be the route they take. That's the way Liam would want it.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_11And that's the way it happened.
SPEAKER_09Isn't there a one-shot or something? Or is it a different campaign that kind of gives him a happy thing, right? Or no?
SPEAKER_11No, that's the end of campaign three. Okay. After all the gods are. You gotta wait till campaign three to have any.
SPEAKER_09Well, you did say to have that closure?
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Keelith becomes depressed.
SPEAKER_11You've told me she's just she's sad. Throws herself into her work, becomes an utter depressed. If no, with no romance or love life, just follow.
SPEAKER_02How does she not move on? With being as long-lived as she's supposed to be.
SPEAKER_11Well, ironically, yes, she would eventually move on because of how long-lived she would become. Problem is, campaign three is only like 30 years post, and she ate. Yes, but she immediately throws herself into work and things keep happening. Okay, things keep happening. Let's see. Oh, wait. This is the campaign three is the third mass almost mass disaster event that's happened in her life. In 30 years. God, when Bell's Hells does what it is. Now to be fair, she wasn't real fully a part of the second one. That's mighty nine, but.
SPEAKER_09It will happen eventually. I'm convinced that they will do Bell's Hells eventually. It's gonna get it's gonna get long.
SPEAKER_11They're gonna have to, but I sure as hell hope it's shorter than the rest of the seasons because it does not deserve to be five seasons. I'm just gonna get that in the stall. What does it deserve? Maybe three. Three? I'd be happy with three. I'm just gonna I'm gonna get that in the stall just seeing grog and the guy again. You're gonna see him in a flannel. He's a gentleman. He's kind of Sir Grogry. Sir Grogry. I believe he's with Pike still. Huh?
SPEAKER_09Isn't grog with pikes?
SPEAKER_11He hangs all all over the place. Okay. He just hangs out wherever feeds him. Whoever feeds him. That ain't that bullshit.
SPEAKER_02I thought he ran his own logging service or some shit.
SPEAKER_11No, he doesn't have a job. He's the only one that doesn't. He's got a title, and that's all he cares about.
SPEAKER_09I say that because I've seen the clip of the actual campaign where they see Grog again, and Pike is there, I believe, because Mercer ain't Mercival's the voice. They're like, it's Grog. Yep, it's Grog.
SPEAKER_11Well, Pike's Pike is the Archbishop of Sarn, right?
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_11Basically.
SPEAKER_09Pike's just I'm I'm and we all know we all know Percival. Old old man, I guess the old man Percival. God, he's human. He's fully human. That's gonna be sad. Oh my god, it's old man Percival.
SPEAKER_11He's easily the He's not the oldest, because that's Scanlon. Scanlon is by far the oldest. But you see them all again.
SPEAKER_09All of Vox again in three, right? Percy just ages the fastest. You see all of Vox and Machina in hell, belt hells.
SPEAKER_13He's just shrugging. You're like, you see them all.
SPEAKER_10They're all in there. It's gonna be exciting. That's gonna be cool. There's another there's a r and there's another reason Keelith can't move on that she isn't aware of yet.
SPEAKER_01His soul is sort of attached to her.
SPEAKER_11Well, it depends on how much you want me to spoil for campaign three. I don't care. I'm curious. So I told you Vax isn't spoil isn't allowed back. Immortal room. He has to sell serve to make.
SPEAKER_14Her power is kind of like spiritually.
SPEAKER_11Well, he he's acting to be fair, his technical job is kind of being the farrier of the dead. That's kind of one of the job descriptions that's listed under him.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_11So when people die, he is supposed to guide them to whatever the plane is.
SPEAKER_13Vax found a loophole.
SPEAKER_11And he is tied enough to Keelith that if she's ever in danger, he can basically go home and help her.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there's no moving on from that one.
SPEAKER_11That's true. Now she isn't fully aware of it, because the first time he does it, she gets knocked out and he rescues her. Well, the problem is that the people that are trying to get Keelith realized it, and bad things happen when he does it again.
SPEAKER_13Vax becomes the plot device to kill all the gods in campaign three.
SPEAKER_11Oh boy. I'm not mad with that. The story aspect that campaign three was setting up was great. The characters were just not likable enough to matter.
SPEAKER_02It doesn't help where tell me why I can't get the name Fresh Cut Grass out of my head, though. That that one still throws me off.
SPEAKER_11Why?
SPEAKER_02Tiny little fucking robot.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Do you want to know why he's named that? Or do what what are you trying to wrap your head around?
SPEAKER_14Why I can't get him out of my head. That's the like the only fucking name out of that.
SPEAKER_11And they never used it again.
SPEAKER_13No.
SPEAKER_12It's so stuck in my head that when the joke came up that the wizard smelt like fresh cut grass in the Dungeons and Dragons movie, I was like, hey, there it is.
SPEAKER_11Let's put campaign three in a box here. Box. Give me a character and I'll tell you what the problem is with the character. Give me three? Yeah. Not give me the character. Tell me the voice actor and I'll tell you what the problem is with the
Campaign Three Character Problems
SPEAKER_11character. Liam. Liam? Liam made a character designed not to lead because he felt like his last two characters led. So he purposely made a character that wasn't supposed to lead and still somehow managed to become an important figure in the group. I got you. I got you. The great Laura Bailey. Made a charisma-based character that didn't want to talk.
SPEAKER_13Wow.
SPEAKER_09Wasn't she was she Imogen?
SPEAKER_11No.
SPEAKER_09Yeah. I thought Imogen.
SPEAKER_11Now there's a ways to play it, but unfortunately, DD is not based well around charismatic characters that don't like to talk. She was the charismatic character. Because the other charismatic character was Maritius, who looks like Golf Girl. Which is not a person that you want talking.
SPEAKER_14I don't know. Me and Dean would talk to her.
SPEAKER_11You would talk to her, but you don't want her for the voice of your group. It would get freaky. Yeah, that would get really freaky when awkward.
SPEAKER_03Dean would still talk to her at level three.
SPEAKER_09Oh, I'm gonna love her. I loved her already, and I only seen her for episode.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Oh, and she just keeps leveling up her looks to I that is not my pick to be my favorite character there. My pick is probably Fawn to be my favorite. Fern? Fern Fern. Fern the Fawn. Fern the Fawn.
SPEAKER_11Matt has agreed, kind of.
SPEAKER_02What's wrong with Ashley's character?
SPEAKER_11Oh boy. Outside of Ashley not knowing how to play DD. That's a problem for all of her characters. Fern is a clectomaniac. She steals JJ. Worse. She has no impulsion control.
SPEAKER_02You're saying JJ has impulsion control?
SPEAKER_11Yes, he has a filter. So he'd have Fern could go into some temple and they're like, don't touch that. Okay. Travis. Oh! The character that's supposed to die and never did. Chetney! Travis made a mechanic to roll the D100 to see if he can get Chetney to die and he never would. Chetney Because Chetney was not supposed to be his character for campaign three.
SPEAKER_03Who was it?
SPEAKER_11We don't know because he never got to him, because Chetney wouldn't die. Chetney what's his name? Pico? Pico Puck. Chetney Puckapee. Yeah. But he turned into a werewolf low. He's a werewolf. That's the cool thing.
SPEAKER_13You only got two other options. Three.
SPEAKER_10Sam.
SPEAKER_11Sam? Freshcut grass.
SPEAKER_02I I have to consider.
SPEAKER_11They developed a mechanic for him for his healing that made it off-putting. A lot of people like freshcut grass. Problem is that he was the cleric and a robot and ko and then he killed himself.
SPEAKER_01How does a robot get connected to a god?
SPEAKER_11He doesn't. He's just using his automation automatic automaton powers to heal people.
SPEAKER_10They counted that as clerics.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. I mean, there's different ways to word it.
SPEAKER_03That's like a bard healing people. It's like, hey, I got the powers of God.
SPEAKER_11He had a very interesting story, and uh people are upset that they didn't get the full explanations for him because he died before he could get into the.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, I was just gonna say he had to have died because he only gets to level nine.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_09Talison, get to the last one.
SPEAKER_11Talison is Talison usually has some of the most divisive characters. Divisive? I thought all the Talisons were pretty well liked. No, not everybody was Talison's characters end up being the most 50-50 by group outside of Caduceus. Even not even Percy's? Because Percy was a bureaucrat. Oh. That doesn't always play very well. He was an up at uppity bureaucrat. Let's see who I mean Percy, Molly Mock. Molly Mock had other issues because he was an egotistical prick. Caduces was the calm-minded Zen master. Everybody loved Cadus. What was the and what was his barbarian? Ashton. Ashton was the edgy punk. Oh, that's such a boy name too. Ashton was the edgy punk that tried to get that just did not play well with the group.
SPEAKER_09He's got a winner though in campaign four, though. I love Bull Air.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. Wait till you finish the episode. Oh rest rest in peace to Taor Pride fire, man. They killed the kitty cat.
SPEAKER_02When he told me that, I almost didn't fucking believe it.
SPEAKER_11You mean Brennan's been trying to kill everybody since day one.
SPEAKER_09I watched it and I was like, oh, that killed me, Brennan. What does Taor see in his last moments? I'm like, Travis, don't do it. Don't make me bother. Don't upset me.
SPEAKER_11Oh. He didn't bring up one character, Dean. You have not brought up one character left.
SPEAKER_13For Belza? Yep. Who am I missing? We're talking about Marisha. Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_11Well, you didn't bring her up, but I said. Oh, I didn't say Marisha.
SPEAKER_09Trap? No, we talked about God. Who am I missing from the fucking cast for campaign three? God damn it.
SPEAKER_11He's not associating him as full cast, that's the problem. Not Robbie. Robbie's on enough to justify it. But that's also the reason that's also the character detriment. He's not supposed to be a full-time cast member.
SPEAKER_09Then that's was that when he started becoming more full-time, was three.
SPEAKER_11Well, he did the EXU origin, which was what six to six to eight episodes before. Then was in what the first 15 episodes of the campaign?
SPEAKER_14Fucking Dorian?
SPEAKER_11Yeah, Dorian. And then left.
SPEAKER_09He fuck, that's gonna kill me because I'm gonna be Bertram Bell. God damn it. God damn it. I'm gonna be singing that shit. Bertram Bell, that was Travis, wasn't it? That was a Travis character that died. Was he supposed to die? Yes. Yeah, you're like, he was supposed to die.
SPEAKER_11Travis was creating characters that were supposed to die, and then he never got to the one he was supposed to be playing. He's like, oh, what the fuck? Well, how long are they on break now? For at least a month. Damn, they're gonna be gone for a bit. Now they're gonna do the Age of Umber too.
SPEAKER_13Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_09I'm trying to really You know what the fucked up thing though about Taor? He didn't really get a chance to shine. He didn't do much. As much as I'm biased, he's Lion Man. He didn't do much.
SPEAKER_13He didn't do much. And is God damn. I can tell you something about the episode if you want. But Vexa gets Laura gets him. What? Laura kills him.
SPEAKER_11Thimble kills Julian's dad. What the She goes in and finds it, she goes in and finds the bodies and get get gets him and gets him out. You're gonna be so happy. Cause Brendan allowed something else.
SPEAKER_09Oh no.
SPEAKER_11Because you knew about Brennan or Taor deciding to pass on his medallion to Wick. Yep. There's two mechanics that they do with that Brendan does with the deaths. One gifts a spell and whatever, and then he also gifts auto-attunement from an item on Taor to someone.
SPEAKER_09Yeah.
SPEAKER_11And he wasn't gonna do it at the moment because he didn't think anybody was coming back for him. Yeah. For the bodies. Yeah. Then Laura said he was she was going to at the end. Yep. And told Travis, if you want to, she's going to look for you. He gifts Laura the bracers. The po oh no. Which is gonna call which do you remember what the bracers do? Don't they make aren't they big? No. Oh my god, you have to forget. I know what you're on the right track. Make you big and buff you and stuff. Make your strength 19. Oh boy. Flat 19. Little tiny. Oh my! She's gonna be Ant-Man. That is that was the joke. Her strength score goes from negative four modifier to plus four modifier. A fairy. She is the strongest fairy known to man.
SPEAKER_02There's no problem with that.
SPEAKER_11She also loses something, which is gonna irk you a little bit, but to do that.
SPEAKER_02Her wings.
SPEAKER_11Yep. She can't. When she's that big, she can't fly.
SPEAKER_13Oh, damn it, it can't be.
SPEAKER_11She can't be wasp. She can be ant man, she can't be wasp. She does not have a skill lower than 15 when she puts those bracers on.
SPEAKER_09Leave it to goddamn Laura Bailey. You leave that goddamn, it went never to her fucking in Chicago.
SPEAKER_11Lowest VIP four is her strength as a fairy.
SPEAKER_03That's that's pretty fucking awesome.
SPEAKER_10Yeah. God, I just damn it. Oh my god. That's gonna be that's gonna be fun. Now I gotta wait.
SPEAKER_09Now I gotta wait a bit. No, I was gonna say, I'm it's hard for me to pick my favorite character from that campaign. There's ones I like more than others, but again, he didn't do much, but Taylor was biased because he's a lion man. I love, I've learned to love Thimble now.
SPEAKER_11I'm not that big on the fairies, but I love Thimble. The only one I'm not sold on is Ashley's. Vale's?
SPEAKER_09Just because of- I like I have I have dark elf bias, but I get what you're saying.
SPEAKER_11I'm like in terms of character.
SPEAKER_09Yeah, yep.
SPEAKER_11It's the one I don't know, don't know what they're doing. Everybody, everybody else has elements to the story I like.
SPEAKER_08Tyranny!
SPEAKER_11You still gotta deal with six hours of the six-hour episode of Tyranny. What? I mean, you gotta deal with the aftermyth of all the stuff that she's already done. Oh no. We got I could tell I could tell you what the new tables are. What? The new groups? Yeah. Oh boy. They basically set up the tables. Oh god. The soldiers' table is now down to one. There's only one in that table? O'Bria is the only soldiers' table left. Oh my god. The schemers lost Belaire. What the? Belair has to leave.
SPEAKER_02What? Belaire has to leave?
SPEAKER_11Belair has to leave the city, so he can't be can't be in schemers.
SPEAKER_03That's kind of sad. I was literally just gonna ask how the whole sentient mask thing's working out.
SPEAKER_11That's critical. That's fine. It's a very fun concept that they're enjoying. They're literally just throwing the mask on rain at people that they need information from. And this Belair does. So Belair leaves the schemers, but they gain wick and tyranny. Everybody else stayed the same. And then everybody else is the seekers and going away.
SPEAKER_10Going away.
SPEAKER_11Yep. Okay. They're leaving the those are the ones that are leaving the city. Technically, soldiers are leaving uh Bria's leaving the city too, but she's going in an opposite direction. So she's just gonna be playing by herself? Apparently. That could be probably a quick story, and Brennan's probably not gonna deal much with it. I'm like, what the hell? It's not gonna be much of a soldier's table. Might be half an episode of narrative.
SPEAKER_09Where's Hal? Or is Hal going with Hal's G.
SPEAKER_11Like, okay, Hal's in the city. Hal's gotta Hal's gotta run his play. Oh yeah. Is Travis gonna be able to make a new character or not? That might be where he joins up with a Bria if the character needs to come in. It depends on what trap Travis designs as a new character. He gets a new character.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they get the one new.
SPEAKER_11You get as many characters as long as the campaign doesn't end.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_11Your character keeps dying, created characters until as long as everybody lives. Or somebody lives. This is the time.
SPEAKER_02Why don't we do this?
SPEAKER_11It's the time.
SPEAKER_12Falcon's the only recurring character, and everybody else just recognized. That'd be funny. Because he's he's it's beyond time. He's beyond space. Somehow a cat still gets resurrected, though. You get a black cat friend, but it's not the same one.
SPEAKER_09Oh my god. No, this is it. This is the time, Travis. This is the time for my barbarian. This is the time. Don't have one yet. This is the time.
SPEAKER_01They don't have one.
SPEAKER_11No, there is no barbarian. There's no barbarian in the group. This is it. They don't even really have a true fighter. They have two sub-fighters.
SPEAKER_14Let's see. Paladin, wizard, sorcerer, wizard, bard, warlock, fighter. Ooh, they have a fighter. Paladin. Fighter.
SPEAKER_11The two fighters are mixed with something else.
SPEAKER_14Matt's fighter, daredevil, rogue. It's tyranny warlock.
SPEAKER_11It's one of the 2024 archetypes.
SPEAKER_14Okay, yeah. Warlock, druid, ranger, paladin, rogue. Yeah, they kind of do need another heavy hitter. Somebody who can be up front.
SPEAKER_11Heavy hitters are Thimble.
SPEAKER_14Thimble!
SPEAKER_11Thimble is the heavy hitter right now.
SPEAKER_14And she's a rogue. Swashbuckler.
SPEAKER_11A swashbuckler brogue with 19 strength.
SPEAKER_07Oh! No! No! Do you imagine her using her actual abilities? I'm gonna shoot swashbuckler browsers are badass.
SPEAKER_13And then she only got a 19 strength. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_07Aren't they more based on what the hell is it? Dex? Dexterity, yeah. Yep.
SPEAKER_13She's got 20 dexterity. What is there, a strength modifier for attacks? No? No. Swashbuckler uses that. Swashbuckler actually uses charisma. For their attacks.
SPEAKER_11As the add-on.
SPEAKER_10As the add-on.
SPEAKER_11It's still dex-based, but it adds your charisma bonuses.
SPEAKER_02So that's something I don't understand about like fighting-wise. Like if you're gonna be using a stat bonus for something where you're you're slashing or piercing, you would think it would be a stat like strength that would add to it.
SPEAKER_11Not man, and you know it depends because when you're fencing, it's like fencing, dexterity.
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_11But that but that's what rogues were always designed to be. They're designed to be the Princess Bride.
SPEAKER_07You know one thing when you think about You killed my father? Yep.
SPEAKER_13I did that joke. Move on. You did?
SPEAKER_11I like I liked that. Because there Grucer's character had an opportunity to go save Taor. He did. A chance to go save Taor. It was not guaranteed. Not with Brennan. But you're gonna love that twist. Oh no.
SPEAKER_09I both love I both love and hate Brennan as a TM.
SPEAKER_11Julian finds out about his shadow. He finds out what the pro what why is Shadow's acting this way?
SPEAKER_10Oh no. Oh no. Why? I'm gonna watch it anyway. I just don't know why.
SPEAKER_11Sir Julian Davinos? Davinos. Davinos. Davinos. His shadow is the Aussie.
SPEAKER_13That makes sense. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_11Turns out so he has a Bria roll an intelligence check to remember something. Only two people are aware that Matt spit on Theazi's corpse at the funeral. Yeah. In one mythos, if you spit spit on a den dead person's body, you are cursed.
SPEAKER_10Uh oh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_11I remember him spitting on there. I remember. So Julian. So you've the whole house's aspect. They're trying to find Theazzi. They know he's dead. They can't find his soul. Yeah. His soul is attached to Julian because it cursed Julian because he spit on him. So by spitting on Thezzi's corpse, one of the people he hates the most, he saved Theazi from whatever torment awaited him. And this is eating Julian inside and out. Like is does Theazi speak? No, he can't speak. Okay. It's straight up pretty much Peter Pan's shadow.
SPEAKER_10It's fucking annoying as fuck, just doing its own thing.
SPEAKER_11In certain ways, it can interact with you and make you do things, preferably when it's closer to realms that are thinner between the ley lines.
SPEAKER_02That is fucking cool.
SPEAKER_11Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02Especially that Peter Pan's concept where it goes off and does.
SPEAKER_11The trick is that it can it can it has very limited aspects unless you're in a place where death is close.
SPEAKER_02Okay. How does he attach it to himself then?
SPEAKER_11No, it just acts as his shadow.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_11But he but the curse is allowing him to act as his shadow and manipulate him in certain ways. It can physically grab you like Peter Pan Shadow could and make you do things, pull you out of the way, make you It's like the dance scene where the shadow's doing this and then Peter's following. Okay. Oh my. That's a cool concept. And Matt, I know Matt designed it that way.
SPEAKER_02So if Matt's character is technically asleep and the shadow takes control, he could have it kill somebody.
SPEAKER_10Shadow doesn't need to sleep too. We don't know the rules yet. That was revealed in the last episode before.
SPEAKER_09Okay. Because I'm like, oh, that's cool. That's cool.
SPEAKER_11As he's this is being explained to him, Matt does the ultimate role play of accepting it. It's like, I don't believe you. I don't believe you.
SPEAKER_05Oh boy. That's that's good. That that's good. That's good. I like that. I like that.
SPEAKER_11So now Julian is the second most important person on this team. Because it has The Aussie, and The Azi's that they know The Aussie is important to all of us. It all comes back to Mercer. He's the second most important person. Octus is still the first because he's the ultimate, he's the block device for whatever is going on with that family.
SPEAKER_07Oh, zombie house? Yeah.
SPEAKER_11What the f all it does give him ideas to put us in a zombie house. What? You would like that too much. Oh my god. Ah shit, this bass. Oh no. I shouldn't say this out loud.
SPEAKER_09He can make a zombie house, but like the zombies are in there's a room of like zombie nurses that like from Silent Hill. Oh yeah, I'm fucking with Dean.
SPEAKER_11No, I've already got a sexy nurses. I've already got a house planned. I'm not doing another house. He's already got a house plan. House. You can blame Jay for that one. Better not be a mimic house. No mimic house. Excuse me? I don't want to get ate by a house. You put this idea in my head.
SPEAKER_08The fuck did I do
Planning Their Own DnD Battles
SPEAKER_08that?
SPEAKER_11At this point, who knows how long it?
SPEAKER_08It's not our fault now, is it? You say, oh, Jay gave me the idea.
SPEAKER_11When hey, all this break time has allowed me to come up with a good idea for how I'm doing the xenomorph. I now have an idea for the xenomorph that works.
SPEAKER_12I'm raising two double metal fingers to this bastard right now. Survive your fight first. I probably won't. I'm so out of practice of rolling, it's gonna be Nat ones the entire fucking fight.
SPEAKER_11If that and you're fighting a brain.
SPEAKER_13That can insta-kill you.
SPEAKER_02I don't think you want mine. No, I'd feel better about dying than that thing.
SPEAKER_11No, you I I worked in an element for yours where you can lose emotionally.
SPEAKER_13How? How?
SPEAKER_11I'm putting you in a sandpit, and if you get shut out of the ring, you lose. Same way wrestling matches go. Motherfucker put me in solo. That's not the way to win. It's a way to win.
SPEAKER_04Your guys in.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, what's the one? Uh uh, I you are pretty much on the Nautiloid. Just surrounded by floating vaces. They don't do anything. They're just floated by the giant blanes and the bases that are on the Nautiloid.
SPEAKER_14I th I thought for a second you were gonna have me fucking damn near crashing.
SPEAKER_11No, I'm not giving you. I'm shutting up now. I've given him too many fucking. So how does how does the how big is the brain he's fighting, first off? Little guy? Little raccoon? Like a raccoon or something?
SPEAKER_13Dean, stop imagining the fucking raccoon attacking Peter.
SPEAKER_09Yes! That's gonna that fight is gonna be comedy gold to me. I hope does it at least jump and latch on? Uh it can lash. Can it kind of it can't? It's not a face hugger. Ah, damn it. I wanted to I wanted to just think of Peter.
SPEAKER_11Ah, ah, holy crap! You're fighting in the sandpit. You're fighting in the Nautilite. JJ's fighting in a cemetery.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_11Uh Nick's fighting in a magic tower. Maybe his father's cemetery. And it'd be even better. Magic tower. This is the thing I want trying to I've and I've the one I was struggling most with was where I'm fighting Ryan, which neither of you responded to. Uh-uh.
SPEAKER_12What were you supposed to respond to? It used now that we're live. I don't know where I want Ryan to fight.
SPEAKER_11So you want us to give you ideas for that? Yes! Because the only one I have working out is a department, is a clothing department store. I was supposed to say department store? Because that's what Ryan's character was. He was literally a clothing merchant. Oh my. Hold on. Who's he facing again? His old character.
SPEAKER_13Ryan's facing his own old character.
SPEAKER_04I have an idea.
SPEAKER_10Both you and he would love it. Make it a Sethiroth fight.
SPEAKER_13Where? Where the top of a mountain.
SPEAKER_02Why would it be the top of a mountain? Because that's Seth's thing, I guess.
SPEAKER_11Why would he be Sephiroth though? He's not the Sephiroth in this analogy.
SPEAKER_12Well, his character is supposed to be like a Final Fantasy character, so his last character is supposed to come up and haunt him, right?
SPEAKER_13Also it is now.
SPEAKER_11Oh my god. He can't give his character nightmares. His character's literally designed to break his character. That'll give him nightmares. Matt told me that character of his was OP. That old character. Well, it wasn't OP, but it's the best tank I've ever seen that wasn't a tank. That wasn't a tank. Rogues aren't supposed to be tanks.
SPEAKER_13Yeah, he made one. I am. I'm supposed to be a tank and a bob. I feel like you're a sub tank because of your hiding seat, but we know who the tank is.
SPEAKER_11I get flattened by hydro pumps. We know who the tank is. We know who the tank is. That's because you failed the competition saving through, I believe, did, wasn't it? It wasn't a dex. It definitely wasn't a dex. That one would have been fine.
SPEAKER_09I am the proud tank, but it also helps I'd be rolling nine and up every time I fucking for health.
SPEAKER_11Every time I have health rolls. Super! That helps.
SPEAKER_10That helps a lot.
SPEAKER_11Yeah, that wasn't a one-piece reference.
SPEAKER_10Oh my god.
SPEAKER_11Alright, I guess that's the episode. Random DD current campaign stuff that we're playing at the end there.
SPEAKER_13What? Oh no.
Wrap Up And Next Picks
SPEAKER_13No, that doesn't work. It's too inconvenient. I'm just giving Dean a picture. Oh god.
SPEAKER_11Look through the cat. Look through the castle. Sign us off, sign us off. Alright, everybody. Have a good night. Probably maybe an episode for Odyssey, but for sure Spider Man. We'll see. Later.
